Description

The car is mechanically sound and in the tradition of Mercedes reliability the engine runs perfectly. The car is really fast and a pleasure to drive. It is visually appealing and in good condition and to the best of my knowledge has never been smoked in.

Mercedes-Benz 380 SEC is an automobile that has a 2 door coupé type body styled by Bruno Sacco with a front located engine supplying power to the rear wheels.
The Mercedes-Benz 380 SEC belongs to the C 126 range of cars from Mercedes-Benz.
Its 3.8 litre engine is a naturally aspirated, single overhead camshaft, 8 cylinder unit that develops 201 bhp (204 PS/150 kW) of power at 5250 rpm, and maximum torque of 315 N·m (232 lb·ft/32.1 kgm) at 3250 rpm.
This power is supplied to the wheels by means of a 4 speed automatic transmission.
It weighs a claimed 3,500 lbs. at the curb and can achieve a top speed of 130 mph.
Mercedes produced 12,334 of the 380 SEC coupes. In 1981, there were 945 produced. For the 1982 model-year, production was up to 4,393. A decrease began in 1983 with 3,829 vehicles produced. By 1984, production was down to 1,310, and in 1985 a slight uptick occurred to 1,857.Features:The Mercedes 380 SEC was equipped with a 3.8-liter V-8 engine that had been revamped as part of the “Mercedes-Benz Energy Concept,” which aimed to reduce pollutants and increase fuel economy. Suspension was almost identical to that on the sedans, and coupes featured a double-wishbone setup in the front. The engineers took advantage of the current safety research when building the 380 SEC and integrated many safety features into the vehicle, including a driver's side airbag.Expert Insight: In 1981, the editors at Auto, Motor und Sport, Germany, wrote, “impressive is the handling of the car which weighs as much as 1,634 kilograms and is almost five meters long. The SEC handles like a dynamic mid-sized car and can be controlled most easily thanks to its precise power steering.”
