Description

Please Read The Whole Description. Up for Sale is a 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Silver Arrow. Very Rare with good milage. I have had this car for a while but never really had a chance to drive it much because I didn't want to put miles on it. I bought this vehicle as a collectable to just hold on to, but I don't really have space for it now. I have no doubt in my m ind that one day this car will cost up to 100K and more. This car is not in perfect condition, but one can finish it up while driving it around if you like. It needs just some finishing touches. Car runs and drives as it should and I would drive it anywhere in the country. I have no doubt in my mind that it would go Cali and back with no trouble at all. It's a beast. It looks great and goes wherever. It took me a long time to find it, I went all over the country to find an SL500 from 99 - 02. Most that I have seen were either used up or smelled like they were left out for too long. When I saw this car, I knew that this was mine and what sold me most was that it was very clean. By the way pictures taken were not after a detail, this is with interior somewhat cleaned up and exterior untouched. I could detail it, but didn't want to because I want for the buyer to see exactly what he/she is buying. Here is what's going on:
The Good:
No scratches outside
No tares inside
Interior does not smell rotten (like most I went to see when I was buying)
Soft Top is New. (I installed it.)
A/C Works
Heat Works
Stereo Works
All Power Options Work
Tires Good
Power is There.
Replaced Center Cluster (If you have been looking at specifically Silver Arrows I am sure you noticed one of the differences in the interior is the wood finish cup holder cluster vs a leather one. As I am sure you noticed that on most Silver Arrows its cracked/chipped and is missing parts. I have replaced mine with a leather one from another SL500 to make it look cleaner. I still have the cracked one. This was a manufacturer flaw, original is near impossible to find in any condition especially in good condition.
CENTER ARM REST BUTTON IS THERE (If you have been looking at these you know that this is like the holy grail. Also a manufacturer flaw, the button brakes off and most SL500's don't have them. THIS ONE DOES and it's strong as hell.
Cross Drilled Rotors (Not my doing)
The Bad:
Front Bumper is missing netting. (These are small parts that fit by the fog lights. I bought it like this. Seems like someone got creative with some metal mesh.)
Windshield wiper fluid does not spray (Not sure why) All parts are there and intact.
Under Hood Insolation can use a new one (better then most, but still falling apart due to age)
Sun wiser mirror covers came off. (I have them, but they are off, again due to age)
Vent ducts are in place, but are old and can possibly need replacement (being that its a convertible plastic gets dried up. they look fine but I am not sure if all flaps move together.
Lite on Dash for bulb replacement. (this is an easy fix, the previous owner fixed the rear trunk brake strip by connecting the wire directly to rear brake lights. (This is a common issue with these vehicles, he should have just replaced the old wire, but I guess didn't want to put in the time, no damage was done and this could be fixed in sec)
Sometimes two lights go on for brakes this is also a common issue, they go on only when you adjust the steering wheel. I assume it's best to take it apart and re-secure loose connections. Car brakes just fine.
Center Cluster is not original (As Mentioned Above) but clean.
Speakers could use updating. It think they are way too old. It's not a surprise. They muffle at times.
Soft top, functions, but seems that some sensors are wonky, I was told by the dealer that happens when roof gets replaced. So what happens is: The Roof will go down, but the rear cover won't come down after the roof is in its cubby. you can put the cover down by hand easy, otherwise it needs to be reset as I am told so that all sensors fire together. So you can drive it with roof up or down, its just that when you go to put the top down you need to lightly push the back cover down manually.
I do have the hard top, but the headliner is coming off. It needs to be reattached. (It comes with a Hard Top Stand)
Last but not least I am sure you noticed that the rims are not original. This is how I got it. I am not crazy about these rims, but to be honest I like them better then the original Silver Arrow Ones. I tried to find AMG rims but didn't have much time.
I think this should cover it.
Again it's a great car. I hate to see it go but I just don't have time or space for it. With all this said I highly advise to see it in person. If you do not see it in person then you get what you get and you don't get upset. This is an old car and is SOLD AS IS WHERE IS with no guarantee or warrantee given or applied. I know that its an awesome deal, and I would take this car anywhere, but I cannot advise that to the new buyer because of the age of the car. Car is located in Chester NJ. Please let me know if you would like to see it via eBay email. I do not have any eBay messengers or apps, so the old fashion way please.
