My story is one of which many enthusiasts who know there cars.will know how valuable and rare a machine like this is. I waited for 18 months to find the perfect SL55 AMG.
This is the dream AMG Spec which not only features the F1 Pace car spec but also comes in a beautiful metallic blacka colour that I have never that looks so perfect. But also
features the stunning factory upgrade limited edition red interior leather suits. The dream combination.black with red leathers.
So what is the whole fuss about SL55 AMG Limited Edition F1 PACE CAR?
An SL that's able to crack 186mph due to its re-restricted electronic limiter -that's 30mph faster than an 'ordinary' SL55 AMG. Note that's 're' rather than 'de' restricted, the SL55 AMG would be undoubtedly able to crack 200mph if the electronics were removed completely. This increase in the speed limiter is part of AMG's Performance Package, an official option that comes in at £10,000. It's based on the package that AMG developed for the F1 safety car, meaning this is the production version of the car that a few seasons back was used to keep Mr Schumacher and friends under control when there was mayhem on the track. AMG has left its power unchanged at 500bhp but they have made some changes to the suspension and brakes while also adding an extra oil cooler, a limited slip differential and some interior and exterior styling tweaks. All in we're looking at a £110,000 SL55 AMG. What's so impressive about the SL55 AMG though is that it's a phenomenal performance car, refined cruiser, stylish cabriolet and cool coupe all combined.
The Performance Pack adds the F1 Nurburgring sports suspension based on the Active Body Control that adds sharpness, while the limited slip differential assists in high speed cornering. The restyled bumper has extra vents to feed and extract air away to the additional oil cooler, but perhaps more important are the larger more powerful brakes that offer massive stopping power. - 390mm Ventend Drilled Discs.
Why Am I Selling it?
Being a great fan of Mercedes and having seen the SL55 conversions to the Black Series SL65 .I began my search for the ultimate SL55 AMG limited edition F1 Model as a base to begin with.
My criteria was simple as I was buying a car which was expensive to begin with.I wanted to ensure it was perfect in every way mechanically! Knowing that I would be spending nearly £20,000 converting
itthe engine had to be perfect.
I read up on Mercedes Forums and every online resource available - giving me all the things to look out for.When I saw this car I knew this was the one! I did not hesitate at all! After 18 months of searching
and viewing 18 different SL55 AMG's.I knew this one was for me. The added bonus for me was the F1 SPECsomething I'd only dream about as it was rare as finding a needle in a haystack not to mention the
red leathers. My budget then was forced to stretch more than I had anticipated - but it was well worth it.
I have seen so many SL55's and most of them were in extremely poor conditionthey looked good on the pictures but when I went to view there was always something wrong with them. If you are buying
a SL55you need to know for sure it is genuine and been looked afterthese cars as good as they are need to be looked afterissues such as the struts go on the car, ABC Pump can go faulty and leak causing
suspension to lower, the seals on the boot and roof are not good and overtime you could get water damage, the super charger pump may failOnly if the car is abused. Sadly as good as these cars are alot of
SL55's I viewed had been abused by previous owners and the car were just not right.loads of wear and tear, the drive and power was not 100% and even the sound from the engines was very suspicious.
My background is Film Production, I am a Director and produce movies you watch every now and again in Cinemas and even occasionally shoot TV Commercials. This car was bought not long ago as I was
looking to do the Misha Designs Black Series Conversion - if you type if Misha Designs SL65 in google you will know what I mean. I have been offered a role as Assistant Director for a new film that will be shot in
Australia and Dubai - this will be a 24 month contract and will mean I will be out of the country for a considerable timecoming back for short visits periodically to visit family. This means that the beautifully baby
that I have been so eager to purchase and convert my SL55 AMG F1 limited edition will be sadly parked up and I will not have the time to convert.
So for this very reason and only this reason I will be reluctantly selling. This sale isn't something I have planned!
