Mercedes-Benz : SL-Class 280SL Convertible w/Hardtop

An excellent driving 280SL that I am offering on behalf of a close friend. He has owned this SL for 22 years. Originally a New York City car but only on East Coast until mid-70's, Then was in Lake Tahoe NV area for many years before selling to current West Coast owner in early 90's. Only Summer driven since, the 137,600 miles seems accurate based on a lot of service records which are available to new owner. A well known local Mercedes specialist has done all maintainence as required for more than 20 years. Car has not been Winter driven and either garaged or in underground storage for over 20 years.
Paint is in decent original shape and car is a solid No. 3 on Hagerty's measurement scale. No rust through evident anywhere and original undercoat is intact. Some evidence of a minor front end collision many years back that result in a minor front hood gap issue and a few hail dimples on the aluminum rear deck lid . Interior is in great condition ( addition of new front carpets would be nice) .
Soft Top is in excellent shape and Factory Steel Hardtop is excellent. Michelin Tires are older but in excellent shape.
You could fly in and drive out if you wish, or seller can work with you to arrange other transportation after sale.
