Finished in rare blue black metallic and saffron interior (code 199 blauschwartz/ code 274 safran),this example represents the very high point of the venerable R107series. This is a final production year car and at 5.6 L is equippedwith the largest displacement engine ever in the series. (Over itsseventeen-year run, the 107 was variously offered in 2.8 L, 3.0 L, 3.5L, 3.8 L, 4.2 L, 4.5 L, 5.0 L and 5.6 L guises.)


Perhapsmost notable, this is a European model trimmed car, distinguished byits unique bumpers, headlamps, front signal lamps, front and rearnumber/license plate mounts and rear deck spoiler. (outside of NorthAmerica, this last feature set apart the flagship SL from its lesserbrethren. This came in lieu of the chrome duck bill trunk handle.)


Thismatching numbers car has been sparingly driven, covering an average of3,200 miles per year. As expected, the motor runs effortlessly whilethe transmission shifts with smooth precision.


Thecar is 26 years old and is not without imperfection (a few minor chipsfrom motorway debris, wear etc.) The hard and soft tops areincredibly preserved as is the bright work throughout.
Outside, the car is in similarly exceptional condition, having been repainted and reupholstered at a cost in excess of USD 30,000 just four years ago. The work was undertaken by a specialist coach builder and restorer of classic motorcars. Receipts detailing work will be included with sale.
