Description

This is the first offer for sale of this vehicle, in the past 30 years.
This 47 year old Mercedes has had two owners. I have decided to sell it, only because it has not been driven and enjoyed enough, in the past few years. Due to our lifestyle, we are not home in the good weather, so it has only been driven about three times per year, for the past five years.
It has always been garage kept, and as you can appreciate from the pictures, has been well cared for, and regularly maintained by a German mechanic that is very knowledgeable and experienced.
I purchased the vehicle in Jan/85 with 77,372 km, ( 48,049 mi.) I drove it regularly for about 12 years. During this time, it has never had any serious damage. Over the years, a broken tail light, a dent in the back bumper, and some vandalism of "keying".
In 1993, I had an extensive, professional restoration done, replacing the fenders, rocker panels, windshield, etc. This was not the result of a collision, or any damage to the vehicle, but an investment in maintaining it's integrity.
In 1997 I applied for collector status with the Insurance Company of British Columbia, Canada. Part of that application was an inspection from their appraiser, who said "it was the best one he had seen", and it was insured for $52,000.00. In 1998 another professional appraiser deemed it to be #2 in the A2 rating of "FINE, well restored or a combination of superior restoration and excellent original. Also , an extremely well-maintained original showing very minimal wear".
In 1992, we completely upholstered the interior with leather, including the seats, dash, etc.
In 2014, the front end suspension was done, including 4-wheel alignment, new king pins, tie-rod, stabilizer link kit, control arm mounts, etc.
In 2014, all tires were replaced, not due to wear, but due to the age factor of the tires.
Almost every year, we have invested some monies on some part of the vehicle, to keep it maintained. We have a complete paper-trail of all expenditures.
The vehicle comes complete with service books, written in German, and an English written Owner's manual.
IT ALSO HAS A FIRST AID KIT WITH GERMAN VERBAGE AND BANDAGES, ETC. in the spare tire cover!
It also comes with the rack for holding the hardtop, after removal.
It presently has an odometer reading of 65,862 km. This means that over the past 30 years, it has been driven 88,490 km, or a total of 54,952 miles.
I have described the car as best I can. I have listed the car with a reasonable reserve, respecting the value of the vehicle. I reserve the right to sell the car privately.
It is in Canada, just 15 miles north of the Washington border. I will assist any buyer in arranging importation to the USA, and shipping.
I can be contacted by phone, at 778-388-2112 regarding any enquiries.
I am not mechanically inclined, but will be pleased to answer any questions you may have about the car, after I ask my mechanic.
This is not a "SHOW CAR", but an extremely fine example of German engineering, that always "turns heads" when driven!
