Description
Few luxury roadsters are more iconic than the Mercedes 450 SL.
The 450 SL is an elegant, capable touring car lavishly engineered to impress.
The V8 SL was the exciting successor to the Pagodas (code named “R107”) it would redefine personal luxury cars.
Affectionately referred to as “der Panzerwagen” the 450SL was longer, lower and wider and the twin headlights and fluted tail lights augmented the new design.
The car now sported a 4.5 liter SOHC V8, dual wishbone front suspension and improved trailing arm rear suspension.A removable hardtop makes the SL cozy in cold weather and the convertible top is elegantly hidden away beneath a cover.
Driving the SL is a pleasure and the car deserves the reputation of “Driving the Star”.
It is a blend of luxury and sportiness unencumbered by modern electronic gimmicks or “Nanny Options”
This car is finished in classic Grey with Red leather, and is original in every way.
I purchased the car from its second owner here in Victoria, British Columbia.
We have an almost Mediterranean climate and this was her sunny day driver.
The 450SL attracted me as a rapidly appreciating classic car (see Haggerty Valuations) that could be driven, enjoyed and easily serviced at any Mercedes dealer or specialist.
Destined to be the next SL to rise behind the Pagodas the 450SL is a great addition to any collection.
