Description
1971 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible with a 351 Cleveland V8. This is a good running and driving Mercury Cougar. It starts easily, shifts smoothly, and stops properly. It needs a new top and a few minor things to be a daily driver. I highly value my 100% positive feedback score on Ebay. I have over 1000 positive feedbacks, and I want to sustain my Ebay reputation. With this in mind, I will list both the positive and negative aspects of my 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible. Positives: 1. My XR7 Convertible is runs good and has its original 351 Cleveland V8 engine. The drive-train is original to the car, and it runs and stops properly. 2. All of the glass is good. 3. The tires are in very good condition, with minimal wear. 3. The convertible top motor works properly. As I mentioned, with very little work, the XR7 Convertible could be a daily driver. 4. My Mercury XR7 is highly optioned. It has a factory air conditioner, power windows, and power steering.
Negatives aspects: 1. As shown in the photos, the convertible top is tattered and torn, and needs to be replaced. The top is not very expensive, but the installation costs need to be considered. The power top motor works well. 2. The interior is worn and needs attention. In its current condition, it is serviceable, but should be corrected if you want to show the car. 3. There is a rust issue in the trunk. I have taken close up photos of this problem. It is a minor rust issue and an easy repair. I have been over the XR7 with a magnet and, overall, the car is rust free. The floors and frame are dry and rust free. There are several small dents. I have super-sized the photos to assist you in evaluating the car. 4. The ignition switch needs to be replaced. The car starts easily, but I'm using a hot wire button that comes with the car and is easy to use and understand. It has the original keys. 5. Some of the power windows need attention.
I have listed all aspects of the car, and if you have any questions, please give me a call. My name is Bob and my phone number is (801) 745-5835. I'm not a car dealer. I'm a retired teacher, and have had a lifelong love affair with old cars. I bought this car to restore it, but I'm currently restoring an Austin Healey, and I don't have the time or funds to do both cars.
If you have less than (5) five positive feedbacks on Ebay, please give me a call or message me before bidding. I want this to be a good, straightforward, auction, with no scams. I will assist the shipper you select in have the 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible shipped anywhere in the world.
