Description
For your consideration is a completely rust free and garage kept 1978 Mercury Marquis Brougham, 4 Door that has only 17,659 actual miles since new. This Mercury has been carefully maintained, and in addition to being equipped with a 400 cubic inch 2 barrel V-8, some of the options include: Power Windows, Power Driver's Seat, Split Bench Seats, Cruise Control, Power Antenna, Intermittent Wipers, Mercury Front Clear Bug Shield Protector and Body Side Molding, etc.
For starters, the entire blue cloth interior is simply pristine and in truly amazing condition, with no evidence of soiling, nor any rips, tears or blemishes. The Mercury's perfect seats, carpets, dashboard, dash pad, door panels, headliner and ashtrays show no signs of wear and are literally in ''like new condition". The exterior of the Mercury is finished in Glamour Blue Metallic, and the original vinyl top is not faded nor cracked and has no rips or tears. The chrome bumpers and exterior stainless components of the Mercury are all in amazing condition; however, as depicted in the photo's, there is a minor mark on the upper part of the chrome on the passenger side front bumper. Of course, there is absolutely no surface rust anywhere on the exterior of the Mercury, and the engine compartment, trunk area, door jambs, floor pans, and entire undercarriage, as depicted in the photo's, are rust free, exceptionally clean and in amazing condition. Moreover, all the glass as well as all the door and trunk rubber weather stripping on the Mercury is also in amazing condition.
About three years ago, the Air Conditioning was retrofitted to R134 and works fine. At that time, the Gas Tank was drained and the 2 barrel Carburetor was also rebuilt. Additionally, about 11 months ago the Interior Clock was restored, and about 15 months ago the following items were also replaced on the Mercury: 1) Battery; 2) Spark Plugs; 3) Ignition Cap; 4) Ignition Rotor; 5) Ignition Wires; 6) Ignition Control Module; 7) Ignition Coil; 8) Ignition and Alternator Relay Radio Interference/Noise Capacitors; 9) Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses; 10) Fail Safe Engine Thermostat; 11) Alternator, Power Steering, A/C and Air Pollution Pump Belts; 12) Brake Master Cylinder and 13) Front Passenger Power Window Motor. However, ALL ORIGINAL OEM FACTORY equipped Hoses, Belts, Ignition Wires, Ignition Control Module, Ignition Coil, Ignition and Alternator Relay Radio Interference/Noise Capacitors, Spark Plugs, and Power Window Motor, as well as the Ignition Cap and Rotor, etc. were RETAINED and BOXED, and will be provided to the purchaser.
The 1.25" wide whitewalls on the Mercury have about 75% remaining tread life, and the right side rear back tire was recently changed with a Brand New matching same size whitewall tire. However, the Fuel Gague on the Mercury is not currently working, but a BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT that can be installed without removing the Gas Tank will be provided and DOES COME WITH THE MERCURY.
The Mercury also comes with an array of (EXTRA) new replacement parts, (should you ever eventually need them many years down the road), such as the following: 1) Complete Set of Mercury OEM Factory Hub Caps; 2) Fuel Pump; 3) Water Pump; 4) Suspension Idler Arm, and 5) Master Cylinder, etc.
I'm only selling the Mercury because I own many cars and really need to make room for another collectible I have my eye on. So, don't miss this unique opportunity to acquire a wonderfully maintained extremely low mileage surviving example of the last model year of the truly "large size" Mercury Marquis Broughams.
This gorgeous realistically priced 1978 Mercury Marquis Brougham "Survivor" that runs well and looks great for a 37+ year old car is being sold ''As Is" 'Where Is", with no written, express or implied warranty or guarantee. The title to the Mercury is Free and Clear, and shows the actual mileage at that time of 16,973.
Although, the purchaser is responsible for making the requisite shipping arrangements and all actual costs of shipping the vehicle, the seller will cooperate and assist the purchaser with arrangements. Of, course, the Mercury is also available for the purchaser to pick-up.
The winning bidder/purchaser must contact the seller and pay to the seller within 48 Hours of the end of the auction a NON-REFUNDABLE $ 200.00 deposit via Pay Pal. The remaining balance of the purchase price of the vehicle is to be paid in full within 7 days of the end of the auction either in Cash, or by a Bank Cashier's or Bank Teller's Check.
I have a few additional photo's of the Mercury, and if you have any questions, please contact the seller at (516) 521-9856.
