Description
Up for Sale a 1969 Mercury Montego (Dan Gurney - Cyclone Spoiler) - Torino
This is a 1969 Mercury Montego that was originally light blue. I purchased the car with the intent of making it a convertible version of the famed 1969 Dan Gurney Cyclone Spoiler sports roof. This is a 1969 Mercury Montego ‘Cyclone’ and is 1 of 33 documented by the Marti Report. Probably less than that because the report doesn’t factor in the car has power windows. As for the car, the previous owner had rebuilt the 351W and put new exhaust in 2014. When I got the car, I did the following:
2015
1. Front clip removed and interior removed in order to paint(see picture)
2. Entire body, floors, and trunk thoroughly gone through
3. Painted Wimbledon White
4. 4V Carb re-built with kit
5. New convertible top
6. New power brake booster
7. New carpet
8. Seats, door panels, and dash are original
9. New 1969 Cyclone Style Steel wheels and BF Goodrich Tires (from Coker)
10. New weather stripping
11. New cat whiskers
12. Bumpers re-chromed
2021
1. All new brakes and brake lines
2. Front Disc Brakes and Drum rear
The power top works and shows beautifully on the car with the Dan Gurney Stripes. All four power windows work from both the driver door main and at each location. This car runs great and shifts with no issues. I use a trickle charge in the winter and each spring it starts right up. Travels well on the freeway and new brakes stop the car with great ease and in a straight line. All the head lights and parking lamps work as well as the brake lights. The interior lights work as well including the SEATBELT light in the dash. NOTE: the radio is missing. Absolutely no rust on this car or fiberglass patches. Bright work shows well and even includes new OEM taillight lens that I bought on eBay for $400.00. No chips or wiper marks on the windshield and the rear backlight/glass is free of marks as well.
Please review the pictures and contact me with any questions. Inspections and test drives are encouraged - the perspective buyer will not be disappointed. This car is ready for the car shows and weekend drives.
This car is for sale as-is with no warranty. Buyer is responsible for all transportation costs. A $500.00 non-refundable deposit via eBay deposit/bank wire transfer is due within 24 hours of the bid closing. The balance of funds is due within 6 calendar days from the deposit in cash or bank wire transfer. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to remove the auction listing at any time. I can aid with shipping and will hold the car for up to 21 calendar days from receipt of final payment
SPECIAL NOTE – please review my past feedback and note I have had only one negative comment in over 20 years. This occurred earlier this year when I sold a scarf for a family member and the buyer requested a refund. I offered a refund, but the buyer never sent the item back, but still left a negative comment. I’m working with eBay still to have that removed. If you look at the last car I sold, a 2005 Ford Inca Gold Thunderbird, you will see the positive comment as well as the many others over the past two decades.
Please email me, via Ebay, with any questions you may have or to request added pictures/videos. If you leave your phone number, I will call you back generally same day. Thanks, and good luck with the auction!!
