1957 Mercury Montclair -
Up for action is this 1957 Mercury Montclair 2 door hardtop coupe - a beautiful original 31,000 mile black license plate Southern California car that just came out of 40 year storage where it sat since 1973. It spent its life in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Boyle Heights where the 96 year old original owner resided, keeping it stored safely until he decided in late 2013 to finally let it go to a new home.
This is a very well optioned Montclair. It has the optional Turnpike Cruiser 368 cubic inch V8 with the push button Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows, Town & Country signal seeking radio, power antenna, flow-toned two-tone paint, tinted glass, gold anodized scallop inserts, Quad headlights, deluxe steering wheel, and cruiser skirt (one lost while in storage).
This Mercury is in clean beautiful condition! It has a straight and solid rust-free Southern California body, a stunning new paint job with clear coat in the factory original colors of Desert Tan (coral) and Colonial White. The stainless trim has been polished. Both bumpers front and rear have been rechromed and look great.
It has the factory original interior in black, white and gray. The original seats are just beautiful, the vinyl is in amazing condition - front and back is soft and subtle with no rips or tears. The door panels are in very good condition as is the dash pad and deluxe steering wheel, etc. The glass is tinted and is very good condition with no breaks or cracks.
Mechanically this ’57 Montclair is a sound low mileage car. It runs strong and drives very well. It is a low mileage original and drives like one. The factory original engine just purrs, with no smoke or blow-by. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and operates, as it should. All the components have been serviced or rebuilt to insure safe dependable driving; water pump, hoses, belts, starter, generator, carburetor, fuel pump, all new exhaust from engine to back bumper, complete new brake system including rebuilt Bendix TreadleVac, new shocks and new suspension bushings where needed. It has a very good set of correct B. F. Goodrich bias ply tires. This Mercury is just ready to cruise!
This is a beautiful mostly original very low mileage car. It has a wonderful original patina about it, is blessed with an attractive color combination, is nicely optioned, and is just a really sweet original.
