The "MGB GT" is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranties expressed or implied.
I had purchased this GT from a gentleman that used to own a British repair shop. He had purchased it from one of his customer's who was the long time owner. That gentleman was a huge MG enthusiast and had been president of the local MG Club. He had used it primarily for attending British car events all over the country. He never hesitated taking the MG to some long distance shows and events. The MG was always a real attention getter at the car events. The color is amazing. It is fitted with a very rare "Webasto" Sunroof, and I was told that it was sold new with the sunroof. It's a great feature since air flow is limited in a GT. After owning it for many years, he ultimately decided to sell it. His mechanic jumped at the chance since he had maintained it for years. He kept it for about 5 years and due to getting up in the years, he decided to sell off his MG's.
The body is in excellent original condition as shown in the pictures. Panel fit is good. The rocker panels appear to be original showing the original factory seams. The GT has an older repaint which presents very nicely. The repaint is slightly off from the original color. There are no dents or body damage. There are few spots that have been touched up. Driver's side windshield upper corner trim piece does not fit correctly but looks ok. Paint finish is nice. The rust is pretty much limited to some bubbling on the passenger side lower front fender and also passenger side dog leg. The underside is clean with no issues. Front and rear bumpers are in good condition.
As noted it is fitted with a very rare Webasto sunroof from new. At some point a wind deflector was fitted which has since been removed and is included with the car. There were two holes drilled in front of the sunroof for installation. There are now two small screws installed that are painted body color.
Mechanically the MG is in excellent condition. Engine compartment is very tidy. It is a turn key example that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. The MG led a charmed life and had a very competent mechanic maintaining it for many years until he was too old to do so. The MG received some nice upgrades which include sport springs, Ansa exhaust system, Pertronix ignition system and Alloy valve cover. It is also fitted with high output headlights with relays.
The MG drives great and starts at the turn of the key. Oil pressure is strong and there is no evidence of smoke out of the exhaust. The GT drives nicely and the suspension feels tight and responsive. The overdrive appears to work as it should. Transmission and clutch work fine with no issues. Has a newer battery with no charging issues. Brakes work fine with newer rear wheel cylinders. The twin tipped Ansa exhaust is in good condition and sounds great.
The GT is fitted with a set of period correct Cosmic wheels which are quite rare. Tires are Dunlop SP 185/70/14's. The spare tire is also a Cosmic wheel with a matching Dunlop tire which has never been used. Fitted with special logo MG lug nuts which include one lock per wheel. The key is in glove box.
The interior is in excellent original condition as detailed in the pictures. Carpet and door panels are in good condition. Dash/gauges are in good condition. It does have a dash cap. Door panels are in good condition. Carpet is in good condition as well. Passenger side seat belt is frayed at the edge. Driver's side l plastic lever to lock the door is broken. It is fitted with MG Logo "Alloy" brake, clutch and gas pedals. Radio is an aftermarket radio with CD player. It does have some "box" style speakers. There currently are no visors fitted. The seats are in good original condition with the exception of the driver's seat which is torn near the headrest and a thin spot on the seat bottom. It is fitted with a custom MG seat cover.
I had planned to get the MG into the local British Repair shop to take care of a few things prior to the sale. It's a one man operation and the only place to go. Unfortunately he's booked for the next 2 months.
Current issues:
Horn doesn't work
Has a rattle when going over some bumps - sounds like something loose in the trunk but not. Could be exhaust.
Might need a valve adjustment.
Push button to release the key has lost some of it's spring so it requires more pressure.
**License plate not included.
I do not have a "buy it now" price, but would consider ending the auction early for a serious offer.
