Description
For Sale1970 MGB in beautiful Primrose Yellow
This wonderful Primrose Yellow example of the classic MGB is now being offered for sale by its 2nd owner. The car belonged to a single owner for its first 43 years and was purchased recently from the estate. The original owner had the car properly restored about 12 years ago, and it was then placed in storage.
After the car was purchased by the 2nd owner (a friend of mine) last year, the tank was emptied of old gasoline and a new tank was installed in its place. Additionally, the water-pump and master cylinder were replaced and a full mechanical ‘re-commissioning’ was completed to make the car safe and reliable for road use. A new speedometer cable was installed as were new NOS Lucas turn signal and horn activators. A new high-quality Robbins top was also installed, and the seats were re-padded and the supports were replaced.
This car comes with its matching original motor, which is running strong. The oil pressure is high with excellent compression. It does not burn oil, and the transmission – equipped with the optional and rare Overdrive system - shifts smoothly with excellent synchros. Everything, including the handbrake functions very well. The car has only been driven approximately 500 miles since having been re-commissioned.
The body is rust free and straight, with no signs of patching, collision or rust repairs and was painted in its original Primrose Yellow colour. The car comes with both a hard and a soft top, as well as a brand new 'Personal' steering wheel, which was never installed. This car has been lovingly cared-for and maintained, and has been stored in a climate-controlled garage, only driven in good weather during the short Canadian summer season. This is a truly well-sorted example of a superb and sought-after model of the famous MGB.

Details:
- All electrical components function as they should
- Original Primrose Yellow colour
- No signs of rust. Very straight body and the paintwork is very good quality (8/10)
- Very good muffler and exhaust system
- Always stored indoors in a climate controlled garage
- Chrome parts are all in very good condition, with some light pitting only on rear bumpers
- Most components (including gauges, glass, etc.) are original
This is a beautiful example of a 1970 US-Market, Mark II MGB Roadster. This car includes a transmission with synchromesh on all 4 gears and an alternator with a negative earth (ground) electrical system. It is also equipped with the US-mandated three windscreen wipers, lightly-padded dashboard (Abingdon pillow) and reclining seats. In 1970, these cars came equipped with the one-year only ‘split’ rear bumpers with the license-plate housed in between.
These cars are very rarely found in this condition and surely this will make a great addition and investment for any collector. This car is perfectly set-up for weekends exploring country roads and for car shows, cruise nights and other events. The old adage which states: "When buying a collector car, buy the best example you can afford" truly applies with this wonderful little British roadster.
Deficiencies:
- Paint is very good, but not perfect (8/10)
- Rear bumpers show very slight pitting
- Side Curtains (side windows) have light cracking but lovely patina overall
