history:
In 1979 MG introduced a handful of special models to celebrate 50 years of production at Abingdon, the 1,000 UK-market Limited Edition cars being the last built there before the factory's closure in October 1980. At the same time another Limited Edition model - an all-black roadster - was released in the celebrating 30 years of MG sales in north america and built to that market's special requirements.
