Description
Wonderfully survived 2-owner example with just 39,000 original miles! Always garage kept with original Georgia owner of 64 years! Shows an older cosmetic restoration that continues to impress today with wonderfully sound mechanicals! Great driver investment, with exceptionally solid body and foundation!
Debuting in 1950, the TC-series was replaced by a slightly larger TD-series. This new design offered both left-hand-drive and an independent front suspension for the first time. They also included smaller, more tire-friendly 15" wheels and a wheel track that was 5 inches wider promising better road handling!
This beautiful 1953 MGTD roadster comes finished in MG Red over custom Red/Black interior and Haartz Stayfast Black soft top. Powered by its original, number's matching 1250cc XPAG straight 4-cylinder engine with dual SU carburetion producing a modest 57 horsepower at 5200 rpm. Features include 4-speed manual transmission, wood MG shift knob, black vinyl covered dash, original banjo style steering, correct Jaeger gauges with Lucas amp meter, Lucas fog lamps & badge bar, added turn signals, electric wipers, 15" disc wheels with new polished chrome center caps & trim rings, rear spare tire cover, chrome tipped exhaust, and a matching black cloth boot cover.
It was in the care and ownership of the same, original Georgia collector from 1953-2017. After his passing, it sold from his estate in Raleigh, NC to the next owner located in Oak Harbor, OH since March 2017. It was used very little by the original owner towards the latter part of his life, so it was professionally serviced in Summer 2017 with all fresh engine fluids, new NGK spark plugs & plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, & points, Lucas coil, new battery with fresh cables, flushed brake system with new front hoses, new generator, new drive belt, braided stainless steel fuel lines, valve cover gasket, and new radial tires. It was tuned with fresh valve adjustment and continues to impress with easy starts and excellent running capacity! Today, the odometer reads only 39,468 actual miles!
It possesses a very sharp, older exterior repaint in its original color, and maintains an gorgeous under hood appearance that was detailed very well to original condition. Factory components include MG intake & exhaust manifolds, canister oil filter, and generator charging system, brass SU oil caps, and MOWOG oil dip stick! All brass body & engine tags are clearly present and unaltered making this largely original example a genuine driver investment! It's ready to be driven immediately! Please feel free to call with any questions.
