Description

2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution RS with some minor modifications. If you are looking at this car, chances are you know what the RS is and how rare it is. But just in case, here is a brief description: The RS was the lightweight variant of the Evolution, with no power windows or locks, no moonroof, no stereo, no wing on the trunk, no vanity mirrors on the sun visors, no rear seat grab handles, regular halogen headlights instead of HIDs, no sound insulation under the carpets or in the trunk (in fact, the trunk has no lining at all, just a thin felt mat), and no rear wiper. The exterior door handles and mirrors are bare black plastic, as opposed to the usual body color. In addition to removing all of those superfluous items, Mitsubishi added an extruded-aluminum rear chassis brace in the trunk, and a helical-type limited slip front differential.  This Evo is a one-owner car, and it has about 85,000 miles on it. Purchased new from Veracom Mitsubishi in Burlingame. After a proper break-in period it was brought to Works (then located in South San Francisco) where they installed their "303-Plus" package. This included an ECU reflash, an MR diverter valve, turbo-back exhaust with high-flow cat, a high-flow air filter, and a larger throttle body. This setup has been totally reliable since the day it was installed. Very smooth driving, no boost spikes, no issues, just a great all-around setup. Can you get WAY more power out of this car? Yes. Will it be this civilized and reliable? Probably not A while after the 303-Plus package was installed, we added the Works adjustable rear sway bar, and a Works Croxx Plate, which is a lower front chassis brace  The taillights were replaced with OEM Evo VII taillights, which have red lenses instead of the nasty clear-lens taillights that came on the car.  A stereo was added to this car, but not the usual "let's cram a subwoofer in the trunk and go trolling for chicks" kind of stereo. This is an audiophile system, and it sounds great! The system consists Rockford Fosgate RFX8250 head end (which is a re-branded Denon DCT-Z1. Look this up, it is one serious piece of gear), Xtant X604 Amp, Focal 165k2p front speakers and a Focal 27V2 subwoofer in custom enclosure. The system runs balanced line level from the head end to the amp. And yes, there is an auxiliary input to plug your phone in.  In late 2011, with around 60,000 miles on the car, it went to FF Tech for a complete timing belt service using all OEM parts, and all fluids were flushed using OEM fluids. During the same visit, the car received a complete transmission rebuild, as some of the synchros were starting to give out. While the transmission was out, a new ACT heavy duty clutch and a new lightweight flywheel were installed, then the transmission was reinstalled and filled with Redline fluid.  The car is currently sitting on a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, which have a bit more than 50% tread left on them. The paint, body, and interior of the car are very presentable, it is a great looking car. It does, however, have the usual wear and tear of a daily-driven car, so don't expect perfection.
