Description
This is one amazing car and I hate that I am putting it up for sale but if you read the following story, sad but true, you will understand.
About a year ago I purchased the most beautiful 2000 model Mitsubishi Magna Solara for my wife. As you can see from the last photo it was expensive. Yes I paid $8,900 for it but that was because it only had 12,900 kms on it. Yes it was basically a brand new 14 year old car.
We loved that car. It was silky smooth and powerful. My elderly father in law loved being driven around in it, and the family ended up referring to it as the "Limo".
Less than a month ago the Limo was T-boned by an elderly lady who didn't see the roundabout my wife was on. Refer to photo 2. The NRMA decided to write the Limo off and my wife was absolutely devastated.
Thinking I was doing the right thing I purchased the "VRX" 2 days after my wife's prang. Maybe I should have gotten her to drive it first. She is not happy with it!!! It is not the silky smooth car that she loved. It is more "animal" than that. In fact this car is the high performance brother of the Limo.
Read the following link to find out more about the VRX. The one in the article is even the same colour as this one. Basically the VRX has 17 more kilowatts than the Limo. It has sports tuned suspension, a five speed tiptronic auto, and traction control. In the year 2000 it was the fastest 6 cylinder sedan in production. This should be a collectible liker a Valiant Pacer or an RT Charger, and it probably will be one day.
Well, my wife does not like the kick in the back when you put your foot down. I have told her this would not be a problem if she did not put her foot down but that isn't her. She does not like the harder suspension and I have to admit that it doesn't soak up the bumps like the Limo did, but boy does it go round corners.
I absolutely love it. It doesn't wallow around corners it just goes round with confidence. The 5 speed semi auto is fantastic for when I want to play games, or I can be lazy and leave it in auto. The traction control is amazing. No more torque steer. Unfortunately I can't keep it for me. I am a driving instructor with three other cars so this one will have to go so I can find my wife something else.
So here is the drum. I paid $4,000 for it, then added rego $346, CTP $449, new plugs, leads, oil change, brake pads front and back, machined discs, new radiator, and new rear and middle exhaust $1,756, and finally a new JVC stereo was installed $300. I also had the interior detailed $170. Total all up $7,021.00.
There is nothing else needed to be spent. Tyres will need replacing in 10,000 kms. And if you want the growl of a VRX the new standard tail pipe should be replaced with an original. Thats not to say it doesn't growl now with the new muffler but is is more appropriate for my 56 year old community nurse wife to drive.
Please note, I also got rid of the ill fitting dashboard mat that is shown in the photos.
Also note: for a $6,000 purchase price I will deliver it to Sydney for new owner.
This is one hell of a car that I will miss dreadfully but it has only been in the family a month, the wife has been around for 34 years. Get the drift?
