Description
1997 Mitsubishi Pajero NL GLS Exceed with a 3.5 litre DOHC V6 engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. This is the exceed version with the rear air conditioning and optioned up with a genuine towbar, genuine bulbar and a power sunroof which is very rare.
The car was originally sold in Victoria in 1998. The car was then traded in on a new Pajero in 2006 at Gary Cricks on the Sunshine Coast. We purchased the car as a genuine 3rd owner vehicle from Ipswich 2 years ago. When we got the car it was a little worse for wear, the previous owner had carried out some major work such as timing belt at 250k klms, replaced the alternator, replaced the rear main seal, had the radiator repaired and serviced the car regularly. the suspension was a bit saggy so we had it replaced with brand new Tough Dog springs in the rear while new torsion bars were added to the front, new heavy duty shocks were fitted all round at the same time together with the snorkel to aid cool air flow into the engine. There was also a few small oil leaks which were fixed up, we replaced all the plugs/ leads, plug seals, rocker cover gaskets at the same as replacing the water pump and thermostat. While we were at it we replaced the upper and lower control arm bushes, new CV's, new upper and lower ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm and all the tie rod ends which has tightened the front end up considerably. most recently we have replaced the stereo, battery, alternator and 4wd solenoid.
We purchased the car 2 years ago to use as a third car and primarily as a tow vehicle for our boat and the car has been brilliant never letting us down. It is quite economical considering its a 3.5 V6 which is assisted by being a manual.Tyres have plenty of tread, it doesn't leak oil or blow any smoke etc, the gear shifts are smooth and generally the car drives very well considering it is 18 years old.
Now for the bad bits, as I stated above the car is 18 years old and as such is not new anymore. some points to note in particular is the car has a small dent in the drivers door, some minor scuff marks on the rear bumper corners, the fan resistor is faulty (high speed only $85 through Mitsubishi), the leather on the steering wheel has peeled off (wood is perfect) one of the front dash speakers is not working, the bonnet and roof has small sections of clear coat peel. The passenger and driver seat leather has some mild cracking on the edges. Front diff bushes will need replacement in the next 15k klms.
Having stated the issues with the car it was the best example we could find 2 years ago and we look at close to 25 different cars. I would like to think it is even better than when we purchased the car given the money and upgrades we have put into it.Overall the car is very clean, reliable and we have the full service history with many many receipts for work done over the years which again is very rare. The car comes with a roadworthy certificate and 6 months rego at the asking price, rego expired on the 31/10/2015, we are willing to drop the price if the buyer wanted to pay the registration renewal.
We are looking at selling the car now as my daily driver's lease is up, we are looking at selling both cars and upgrading to a new 4wd that I can use as my daily and also for weekend towing duty. While we are open to offers they need to be realistic please, its a genuine car.
No dealers or wholesalers please the car is too good for that.
Note car does not come with awning
