Description

Almost every car listed in this price range has some shady owner who will try to screw you by hiding all of the problems with his/her car. I will not.
Before I found this wonderful car, a used car dealer tried to sell me a $2000 car that needed over $1000 in repairs according to my mechanic. A nice old lady tried to sell me a car that died when I was test driving it. Another dealer told me there was no problem with the battery, only to have to jump start it after I turned the car off. This is as honest a listing as I can come up with. I’m not leaving anything out.
THE GOOD:
-This car goes from point A to point B. That’s the main function of a car, and this one does it great!
-There are a good number of new parts in the car. They include (and I have receipts for all of these):
---Alternator. $170.07. 5/2/14.
---Battery. $93.35. 5/2/14.
---2 ignition coils. $152.10. 4/28/14.
---Muffler and installation parts (2 gaskets, 2 cans liquid wrench super). $84.65. 4/1/14.
--- Bosal Resonator. $112.50 (auto parts warehouse) 3/19/2013.
-----This work above was done at West Caldwell Tech, a blue ribbon award winning vocational technical school. Had all of this work been done at a traditional mechanic, the total cost of parts (which would be marked up to above list price) and labor would have cost around $2000 total.
---Rear Muffler Assembly. I can’t locate the receipt, but I bought it from Auto Parts Warehouse, and have the receipt for the $105.25 labor charge for installation at my mechanic. 12/28/12.
---Axle Assembly. $71.04 (Auto Parts Warehouse). Labor to install at mechanic $210. 11/26/12.
---2 headlights. I can’t find the receipt for these, but they were the basic type of headlights. Nothing fancy.
-I have the title for the car so I can legally sign it over to you. Aka this car is not stolen.
-I have the original car manual booklet
-I bought this car through the mechanic who serviced 3 family members’ and many neighbors’ cars. From this I concluded that he wasn’t trying to screw me, because if he did, he’d lose a good amount of his business. I bought the car for $1800 before tax, although it was listed at over $2000.
-Tires have a good amount of tread on them
-GXE model
-NJ Safety inspection lasts until April 2015.
-automatic shift.
-V6, 3.0 Liter Engine
-Power windows
-Rear Window Defroster
-Driver and Passenger Front Airbags
-Power Steering
-Power Door Locks
-Tilt Steering Wheel
-Air Conditioning
-Heat
-Windshield Wipers
-Power Exterior Mirrors
-Lighted Entry System
-Spare Tire and Lug Wrench
-Power Brakes
-Power Exterior Mirrors
THE BAD
There are problems with the car, as there will be with any car of this price. As I said, I’m not going to hide anything from you, so here are all the problems in detail:
-Brake line is leaking, which means you cannot apply the brakes. In addition, the calipers, rotors, and pads need to be replaced. This means that when you come to look at the car, you CANNOT test drive it because it will not stop. And when you purchase it, you will have to tow it. The brakes are estimated to cost $400 to fix by the professor who worked on my car at West Caldwell Tech.
-I need to hold the wheel slightly turned to the left for the car to drive straight.
-When I turn hard to the right (only when pulling into a driveway) it sounds like something is hitting the wheels.
-When I’m driving and the car goes over a bump, it squeaks. This probably has to do with the suspension.
-Sometimes when driving, if I'm holding my foot on the accelerator but it's not quite at the point where it needs to shift, the engine rumbles a little.
-When I'm going fast (like over 65mph), the steering wheel shakes. I avoid this by driving relatively slowly.
-A few lights that are on on the dashboard: check engine light and brake light even when the emergency brake is not engaged.
-Speedometer and mileage counter don't work. The mileage counter stopped counting at 193,088 miles and it should be around 210,000 now.
-One hubcap is missing. The pictures show that, and I want you to know that is not a spare tire.
-Some dents and minor scratches and rust on the body of the car.
-You can see some duct tape residue on the car. On the side that was to make sure that small piece didn’t hang off. There’s also a few bumper stickers. I can take those off if you’d like. It was just a nice day out and I wanted to take photos before the sun went down.
-The lights on the dashboard don’t light up.
-The weather stripping is coming off around the moonroof. That means if i don't tape it on the outside, water gets in. And I also can't open the sunroof with the tape on it.
-Wind seems to get in, causing noise.
-When I used to open the sunroof, it sometimes would only open about ⅗ of the way.
-The high beam headlights won’t stay on unless you hold the switch pulled towards you.
-Heat doesn't work well while on the highway and temperature outside is below freezing. It does work when I'm in stop and go traffic, no matter how cold it is outside.
-The back doors squeak when I open them.
-The emergency brake's cover came off (I have a replacement but haven't put it on, since it would require a glue gun)
-Back left door doesn't open from the inside, but it does open from the outside.
-The storage area between the two front seats won't stay attached by tape or by the screws that came with the car.
-The radio doesn't work
That’s EVERYTHING about this car that I’ve noticed. You know what type of car you can get around this price. Everyone will try to take advantage of you not being a mechanic, and not knowing what to look for. That’s why you see a bunch of 10 word listings. I’ve been as detailed as possible. I’m not trying to screw you. You get exactly what’s listed here.
A few things to note:
-I haven’t driven this car since November, except for starting it periodically and driving it in my driveway. I didn’t get a chance to list it until now.
-Payment must be made in cash before you take the car and I sign the title over to you.
-I was told when I bought the car that it had only had 1 owner, but I can’t confirm that with any receipts.
