WELCOME TO THE RELUCTANT SALE OF ANOTHER ONE OF MY 300ZX'S. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE THE START OF LAST YEAR AND IT HAS BEEN AN ENJOYABLE Z TO OWN.
FOR THOSE WHO KNOW ABOUT THE 300ZX Z32 YOU WILL BE AWARE THAT 1999 MODELS ARE VERY SCARCE ALL OVER THE WORLD BUT ESPECIALLY IN THIS COUNTRY, WITH ONLY A HANDFUL IN THE UK AND EVEN LESS MIDNIGHT PURPLE VERSIONS. THIS IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE ONLY '99 SPEC MIDNIGHT PURPLE NA IN THE COUNTRY. AFTER 1996 THE 300ZX / FAIRLADY WAS ONLY MADE FOR THE JAPANESE MARKET. THE Z32 WAS RELEASED IN 1989 AND MOST OF THEM OVER HERE ARE THE EARLY MODELS (UPTO 1992). Z PRICES ARE ON THE WAY UP SO NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY ONE!
THIS CAR IS A 3.0 V6 24V NATURALLY ASPIRATED VERSION SO NO PROBLEMATIC TURBOS TO CAUSE YOU ISSUES. DESPITE IT BEING AN NA MODEL IT STILL GOES WELL AND IT MAKES A GREAT NOISE THROUGH THE STAINLESS STEEL AFTERMARKET EXHAUST SYSTEM AND DRIVES REALLY NICELY AT ALL SPEEDS. IT ALSO HAS AN AFTERMARKET CONE FILTER TO HELP IT BREATHE. IT LEFT THE FACTORY WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BUT THE CAR HAS BEEN CONVERTED TO MANUAL AND IS FAR BETTER AND INVOLVING TO DRIVE NOW. THE Z IS ALWAYS A HEADTURNER AND LOOKS STUNNING IN MIDNIGHT PURPLE. IT LOOKS BLACK IN THE SHADE BUT AS SOON AS IT HITS SUNLIGHT THE PURPLE JUST COMES ALIVE. THE VELOUR SEATS ARE INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE AND THE INTERIOR IS IN GREAT CONDITION.
IT HAS A GOOD SPECIFICATION LIST, INCLUDING: REMOVABLE TARGA TOP ROOF WITH LEATHER STORAGE BAGS, BLINDS AND HOLD DOWN STRAPS IN THE BOOT, RETRACTABLE LUGGAGE BLIND, ELECTRIC WINDOWS, ELECTRIC FOLDING MIRRORS, POWER STEERING, ABS, ALARM / IMMOBILISER, FRONT FOG LIGHTS, 17" SPARCO RACING CRIMSON ALLOY WHEELS WITH PIRELLI PZERO TYRES, PLUSH FAIRLADY MATS, AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL / AIR CONDITIONING, ELECTRIC ADJUSTABLE DRIVERS SEAT, 3 POINT REAR SEATBELTS, TOOL KIT, JACK SET AND PROBABLY MORE THAT I'VE FORGOTTEN.
THE 1999 MODELS HAD SEVERAL DIFFERENCES THAT SET THEM APART FROM THE REST, INCLUDING: DIFFERENT FRONT BUMPER, DIFFERENT REAR LIGHTS (CLEAR INDICATOR UNT AND CHROME SURROUNDS), DIFFERENT REAR CENTRE PANEL (RED 300ZX LOGO INSTEAD OF SILVER), RED Z BADGE ON NOSE PANEL, MARBLE EFFECT INTERIOR TRIMS, DIFFERENT VELOUR SEATS AND TRIMS, ORANGE SIDE MARKER LAMPS IN REAR BUMPER, LIGHT GOLD COLOURED DASH CLOCKS, LIFT STYLE WINDOW SWITCHES, UV CUT MIRROR TINT REAR GLASS AND MORE.
THIS Z HAS JUST PASSED ITS MOT SO COMES WITH A YEARS MOT ON IT, CURRENTLY SORNED AND WOULD NEED TO BE TAXED BY THE NEW OWNER DUE TO THE NEW RULES. IT WAS MY PRIDE AND JOY UNTIL I SNAPPED UP A TWIN TURBO WITH A FORGED ENGINE ETC, SADLY SINCE THEN THE 99 SPEC HAS SAT ON THE DRIVE DOING NOTHING (SINCE FEBRUARY!) AND I'VE ONLY JUST GOT ROUND TO ACTUALLY PUTTING THE EFFORT INTO SELLING IT. AS MUCH AS I'D LOVE TO KEEP IT I'VE JUST GOT TOO MANY ZEDS AND SOME AMERICAN MUSCLE ON THE WAY FROM OVERSEAS SO I COULD DO WITH THE SPACE AND MONEY HENCE THINNING OUT THE COLLECTION!
THERE IS A FOLDER FULL OF HISTORY FOR THE CAR, INCLUDING THE JAPANESE SERVICE HISTORY AND IMPORT PAPERWORK, ORIGINAL OWNERS HANDBOOK PACK WITH ENGLISH OWNERS MANUAL AND STILL HAS THE JAPANESE FAIRLADY Z OWNERS MANUAL TOO, NO GOOD IF YOU CANT READ JAPANESE BUT LOOKS COOL AND IS A GREAT TOUCH TO THIS CARS ORIGINALITY. ALSO INCLUDED IS A HPI CHECK SHOWING THAT THE CAR HAS A CLEAR HISTORY.
THERES A FEW BITS THAT COULD DO WITH BEING DONE TO BRING THIS CAR BACK TO ITS FORMER GLORY. THERE IS A BIT OF SURFACE RUST ON THE REAR ARCHES WHICH IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH Z32'S, THE SILLS ARE NICE AND SOLID. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR IT NEEDED SOME PAINTWORK AND A FRIEND OFFERED TO DO THE WORK JUST FOR THE COST OF THE PAINT AS PRACTICE FOR HIS FULL RESPRAY, SO NATURALLY I ACCEPTED HIS OFFER! TO BE HONEST THE WORK WOULD BENEFIT FROM BEING REDONE TO A BETTER STANDARD ON BOTH REAR QUARTERS AND THE PANEL UNDER THE REAR LIGHTS, I'VE BEEN QUOTED £250 FOR THIS WORK BY A LOCAL BODYSHOP. ITS NOT TERRIBLE AND AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURES IT REALLY DOES SHINE WELL WHEN CLEANED UP BUT WOULD IMPROVE IT IF THIS WORK WAS DONE. THE REVERSE LIGHTS AREN'T CURRENTLY WORKING SINCE THE MANUAL CONVERSION BUT I DO HAVE THE PROPER MANUAL LOOM WHICH GOES FROM ENGINE BAY DOWN TO THE GEARBOX, I'VE JUST NOT HAD CHANCE TO FIT IT YET. ONE ISSUE THAT HAS ONLY RECENTLY OCCURED IS SOMETIMES THE LEFT INDICATOR STAYS ON, BUT ITS VERY INTERMITTANT. I'M GOING TO TRY CHANGING THE INDICATOR SWITCH IN CASE ITS GONE BAD SO HOPEFULLY THAT WILL CURE IT. ANOTHER INTERMITTANT PROBLEM IS THAT THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES OVER RUN FOR A SECOND OR SO WHEN YOU TURN THE IGNITION OFF, NOT SURE WHY AND ONLY OCCASIONALLY DOES IT, BUT ITS DOESN'T AFFECT THE WAY IT DRIVES OR ANYTHING ELSE. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS SOME WEAR BUT I HAVE A BETTER REPLACEMENT THAT I WILL FIT BEFORE THE CAR GOES. OTHER THAN THAT THERES A FEW AGE RELATED MARKS BUT GENERALLY A NICE TIDY 300ZX AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURES.
THE WHEELS THAT ARE CURRENTLY FITTED (SPARCO RACING CRIMSONS) I FEEL DON'T REALLY SUIT THE CAR AND IT WOULD LOOK MUCH BETTER WITH A DIFFERENT SET AS SHOWN IN THE OLDER PICTURE WHEN I HAD MY DEEP DISH WHEELS FITTED. THEY ARE QUITE A RARE WHEEL THOUGH AND SHOULD FETCH ABOUT £300 WHICH WOULD GO NICELY TOWARDS A MORE SUITABLE SET. THEY DO HAVE VERY GOOD CONDITION TYRES FITTED WHICH ARE PIRELLI PZERO ROSSO'S. THE Z IN ITS PREVIOUS GUISE WITH COILOVERS AND DEEP DISH RIMS ATTENDED MANY SHOWS AND ALWAYS ATTRACTED A CROWD AND COMMENTS, SO THIS CAR HAS REAL POTENTIAL TO STAND OUT ONCE AGAIN IF YOU CHOSE THAT STYLING ROUTE. UNFORTUNATELY THE OLD WHEELS AND COILOVERS AREN'T FOR SALE AS I SWAPPED THEM ONTO MY TWIN TURBO AS SOON AS I GOT IT AND THEY ARE STILL ON THERE NOW. BUT I CAN POINT YOU IN THE DIRECTION OF WHERE I BOUGHT THEM FROM IF YOU WANTED TO REPLICATE THE LOOK.
