Description
Up for sale is an original, documented 1972 Oldsmobile 442 with the W30 option. I have GM of Canada documentation on the car, but in 1972 the "X" in the VIN denotes the vehicle as the real thing. The car originally is a white bucket interior and Radiant green exterior. The car runs and drives nice, but it really needs someone to restore it. As the photo's will show, the car needs work but can be used as is. As far as driveability the only issue is the transmission will not kick down into a lower gear when the throttle is depressed hard. The car still sports all of its original sheet metal. A brand new engine bay wiring harness was just installed. The trunk floor is still pretty decent as the photo will show. The body floor has a few minor issues but I don't believe it needs the entire floor replaced. The fenders and quarters have the usual rust issues, but the hood, trunk lid, and lip, doors, and front and rear window frames all appear to have no significant rust issues. The most significant issue the car has is with the frame. The car was used by a previous owner on gravel roads , and at some point the car I believe ended up on a road side berm. I removed lots of gravel and stone from various nooks and crannies. The hood shows no sign of being hit so I assume the damage to the frame was caused from the under side and said berm. The frame was repaired and car drives straight but I want to disclose this and be as honest about the condition of the car as I can. The vehicle no longer has the original motor and transmission. It now has a 1973 Delta 455CI and I believe a 1969 turbo 400. It does have the original "TO" coded 3:73 rear end. The car currently has 3:08 Posi gears in it for highway driveability, but the original 3:73 gears are with the car for switching back.
Original, documented, unrestored W30's are starting to get harder to find. This car I believe is a prime candidate. I would rather not sell but have more cars than I can do already. I have other parts available for the winning bidder. I will be happy to answer all questions, and have many more photo's for those interested.
Good luck bidding.
