Description

1956 Olds 98 4-dr. hardtop with what I think is every possible option in 1956, including factory air-conditioning which was quite rare 63 years ago. Dallas, Texas area car since new, third owner since 1956, has just been refreshed and brought back to operating order after years of storage by previous elderly owner. New wide whitewall tires and tire tubes, cleaned out gas tank, new fuel sending unit, rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt brake system, new battery (12 volts), new spark plugs, all power windows working with one NOS power window motor that was installed to replace a dead one; interior is all original and unrestored, needs new carpet, and there are some pinhole rust spots in driver's floor--that is the only serious rust-through in the car. Power front seat, factory A/C is all there but have not done anything with it so assume it does not work; tinted glass all the way around, has the "Fiesta" (I think that's what they are called) wheel covers; AM radio, electric clock, power antenna, emergency brake warning light, padded dashboard, power steering, power brakes, 324 Rocket V8 runs well--a little lifter noise but not bad--needs to be driven more than anything due to years of sitting. Mileage is approximately 86,000 plus or minus--that is the best I can remember--am listing this for a friend. Very solid car, never been wrecked, all doors close with two fingers' pressure and all body panels fit properly. I think it is the original paint--the white will polish up; the brown is faded and might require a little more work, compounding, etc. This was Oldsmobile's top of the line in 1956.
Car is located in Bailey, Texas which is about 70 miles northeast of Dallas. Has a Texas title. Not currently licensed, so you should plan on trailering it home or bring a license plate. It might drive home, but has been in storage for many years. Would be better to try short trips and test drives before attempting a long trip. There is a very modest reserve price to protect the seller, but I am confident that reserve price will be exceeded.
We request a $300 deposit within 48 hours of auction's conclusion and full payment within 7 days of auction's conclusion. We can assist in loading the car. Can deliver it to international shippers in Dallas or Houston at additional cost, but buyer has to make the shipping arrangements.
