Description
A rare barn find: 1963 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Holiday Sport Sedan with original Midnight Mist acrylic lacquer paint and silver gray interior! This car has spent all of its life until October 2018 in a garage in a small town in the Northeastern Tennessee mountains. It was last registered in 1971 and was purchased from the family of the original owner. He ordered the car from a local Oldsmobile dealership which was a subsidiary of the dealership in Bristol, VA. The car was delivered in April 1963 and all of the original paperwork including the window sticker and bill of sale go with the car (see photo). The original owner's manual and buyer protection booklet are in the glove compartment.
In order to make the Olds roadworthy once again, many mechanical items have been repaired or replaced including fuel lines, cleaned out fuel tank, power brake booster and master cylinder, complete exhaust system front to back, transmission servicing, battery, tune-up, etc. The engine runs smoothly and quietly and the car runs and drives beautifully. The transmission shifts as smoothly as new. All power windows work perfectly as well as the two-way power seat. The original AM radio works along with front and rear speakers. Even the green "cold" light comes on when the car is started and goes off when the engine reaches normal temperature level. The original 8.50x14 spare tire is in the trunk. A new set of radial tires comes with the car as well as the original spinner wheel covers, which also are in the trunk.
The original dark blue paint is presentable as is and has a nice shine. It has been polished with Macguier's No. 7 and wax over that to preserve the original finish. The hood and trunk show weak spots in the paint, but the rest of the car looks good. There is no rust on the car other than surface rust on the rear bumper where it was exposed to the weather while parked in a garage for many years. The bumper has been cleaned with steel wool and waxed to preserve the finish.
The original interior is very presentable with no rips or tears in the upholstery. The carpeting is clean and the padded dash lip has one small broken place. The original foam headliner is mostly intact but should be replaced as it is disintegrating. The package shelf behind the back seat is slightly discolored but not warped or broken. The original factory seat belts as ordered from the factory are intact in the front seat.
I am selling my car due to lack of storage space. My desire is to find a new owner who will enjoy this car as much as I have and will see that it is preserved. Please email through eBay with questions and I will do my best to answer them. This beautiful car is available only to bidders in the continental US, or those in the US who are bidding for customers in foreign countries. A $500.00 deposit through PayPal is due within 24 hours of the winning bid with full payment within 3 days. Thanks for your interest and good luck bidding!
