Description

I am relisting this due to a non-paying, non-communicating buyer on September 30. Please contact me through the "contact seller" button within this auction. If you initiate a contact through the eBay Motors App, it will not work because I do not have a smart phone or the ability to talk to you through that app.
Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight. 1986Regency Brougham in excellent condition. I bought it in May, 2014. It has been garaged its entire life. Mechanically excellent, tires excellent, drives like a dream. If you are not familiar with the 1985 and 1986 Oldsmobile, they chopped off one end of an 8-cylinder engine to create this 6-cylinder engine, and when idling, it feels a bit rough at times due to balance. They solved this in 1987.Of course, you don't notice it when driving it.It's silky smooth, powerful, and fast.
There is no deferred maintenance on this beautiful car.I am almost 70 years old and have attended to its every need.I acquired it with just over 19,000 miles on it.So in 7 years, I added 15,000 to that, and it stands at 34,595 today. What does not work? The power antenna - you raise it up and down manually now.The electro-luminescent light strips on the outside between the doors sometimes work at night. There is a loose hose to the windshield washer. The washer motor works fine; I just haven't thought about finding the detached hose, because I never drive it in any kind of weather to need to squirt the windshield. That's it.Everything else works great, every gauge, radio, power driver's seat, power passenger seat, power windows, air system (a/c changed over).Everything.And the whitewall tires have plenty of tread on them.
Originally, this car had air bags that leveled and supported it.With age, they failed, and I converted the suspension over to traditional shocks. There is zero difference in the feel.I researched what those air bags were all about, and supposedly they were to adjust the level of the car if you had hippos in the back or heavy cargo in the trunk, or wanted to pull a trailer, or such.
It has the original paint, and to my knowledge has never had body damage. There are no dents - just a scratch on the passenger front door and a couple on top of the deck lid. There may be some minor scratches elsewhere if you really look hard. The paint still has a nice shine to it, and I have never waxed it. Notice the gorgeous vinyl roof - it's flawless.
There is a man with a beautiful voice who lives up in the dash somewhere. He says things like "The park brake is not fully released, the headlights are on," and something else I am not remembering at the moment. It amazes everyone to hear him talk to you. This car has features not found in new cars, such as that man talking, all kinds of courtesy lights, including those that illuminate when the doors are open to warn other drivers at night.
While the Auto Check shows I am the 4th owner, be aware that the 3rd owner had it only a month. I think it was necessary since my understanding was that it was from an estate in Pennsylvania. They kept it in the garage, and again, there is zero rust.
Why am I selling it?Reluctantly, I'll tell you.But I only put 100 miles on it last year, and because I am getting ready to retire, bought a new GMC Acadia that I can haul stuff in, because I want to travel and go antiquing. I'd love to answer any questions you may have, but they won't let me put my phone number in this listing. You may want to know a bit about me. I conduct estate sales for a living, and you can look up estate sales Lubbock, Texas and find me.I'm Eddie.I will assist with meeting your car hauler to pick this up. Thank you.-Eddie
