Description
Wow! What a beautiful classic! Lots of chrome, one of the best styles of the 50's, and just the color that you want.two tone RED and WHITE inside and out!
Well worth the money! Great condition inside and outwith J2 Tri-Carb which has been completely rebuilt..alot of expense went into this one, but need the money so selling with low reserve in this "as is" auction..paint and interior look great with new carpeting and upholstery..engine compartment also painted and detailed..radial tires in good condition..nice original hubsvalve job with new gasketsrebuilt front wheel cylinders.newer spark plugs and wires, replaced electronic fuel pump and ignition, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, but carb/timing will need adjustment, particularly for altitude differences..trunk relined.new brakes and rebuilt brake master cylinder, although still some stiffness (vacuum?)..no obvious rust issuesglass in good condition.dash is original with only a couple of spots of flaking. Car manuals. Factory radio works.also have the '58 portable radio but is not original. Electrically operated windshield wipers. Chrome is original and not bad with only a few minor dings and blemishes (primarily at rear bumper), but for show condition will need to be redone as there is also some small bubbling at rear tail light benzels/trim, which is common with cars of this era. Possible now is your chance to own one of the coolest car designs you will see of the 50's/60's.
The Super 88 model featured a more economical Rocket V8 than its more expensive linemates – a de-tuned 265 hp (198 kW) version of the 371 cubic-inch Rocket V8 with two-barrel carburation. Super 88 models were powered by a four-barrel 300 hp (220 kW) version of that engine as standard equipment with a J-2 option featuring three two-barrel carburetors and 310-312 hp (231 kW). A new option for 1958 was a "Trans-Portable" radio that could be removed from the instrument panel through the glove compartment and used as a portable radio for beaches, picnics, etc. thanks to portable batteries.
