Description

1956 Hudson
Super Wasp
*** NO RESERVE ***
History: This barn find is from a dry climate area and as a result has survived well. I bought the car from a retired Fire Chief who had plans of restoring it but age got in the way. The car has not been registered since the late 1980s and will need to go through the normal start up procedure for a car that has been sitting. Judging by the condition of the car the odometer reading may be original.
Body: There is almost no sign of rust, the trunk and floor are good as is the frame. The floor in the front seat area appears to have been repaired at some point but seems to be solid now. The paint is exceptional in my opinion for the age of the car. It shines well and with minimal exception and some polish through on the roof it is very nice. There are few touch-ups here and there but even from a short distance looks very good, there are no large dents or scrapes. The door jams are in good condition as is the firewall and inner fenders. The chrome and stainless trim is outstanding. The windows all roll up and down as they should and the windshield is excellent with no cracks or bruises but the left rear door glass has a crack.
Mechanical: The engine starts and runs from a remote fuel tank, although I did not run it for a long period it sounded fine with no noticeable oil consumption or strange noises. The clutch engages and releases as it should, the brakes are not functional although no parts are missing and the car rolls and steers. The tires and port-a-walls are old and cracked.
Interior: The interior is as expected for a car of this vintage. The dash has not been drilled or modified and has the original radio, there are no cracks in the dash. The pad has warping but I think it can be saved, it is not cracked. The floor mats in the rear are good the front needs replacing. The front seat has sun and wear damage and needs to be recovered the rear seat is better than average, the door panels have slight warping but are presentable as is. The headliner is intact but poor the rear package tray is very good.
Reason for selling: I have a number of cars and a change in lifestyle means some have to go. The reason I am selling UNRESERVED is because I'm serious about selling it and if I put a reserve on it at what I feel it is worth it may not sell.
Overall: This your chance to buy a well cared and unusual unrestored 1950's classic at an affordable price. By the condition of the car it is obvious that it has led a charmed life, it is a barn find that is complete and won't cost a fortune to restore or enjoy as is. If your looking for a car that is a worthy restoration project you should seriously consider this one.
Location: The car is located just outside of Salmon Arm British Columbia a few hours from the Washington border. I can help find a shipper and help with the paperwork if the car is being shipped to the US as I am familiar with the process (there is no duty on this car if it is imported to the US).
US Importation: If you are a US buyer importation is simple, there are no taxes or duty applied when this car is brought into the US. If you import the car in person there are no fees, if not you will need to use a customs broker and there are many available. They charge around 250.00 for their services. The Canadian paperwork that I will supply and the US Customs documents you receive will be submitted to title the car in your state.
Payment: ****PLEASE READ**** I will accept a deposit of $1000.00 within 3 days of the close of the auction and I will store the car until April 1st. at no charge. At some point prior to April 1st, the balance will need to be paid in full and the car picked up. The deposit is non refundable, all payments must be cash in person or bank to bank wire transfer. If you want to just pay for the car and pick it up now, payment must be received within 7 days of the close of the auction.
