Hupmobileswere built from 1909 through 1940 by the Hupp Motor Company of Detroit,Michigan, Their first car, the Model 20, was introduced to the publicat the Detroit Auto Show in February 1909.Robert Craig Hupp, a formeremployee of Oldsmobile and Ford founded the company with his brotherLouis in 1908.Following disagreements with his financial backers Huppsold his stock in the Hupp Motor Car Company.Hupp Motor Company, however, continued to grow after its founder had left. A new plant waspurchased in 1924 as Hupp competed strongly against Ford and Chevrolet.
This vehicle was found in a field on a ranch inSouth Dakota and restored by an extended family member of the owners. Reportedly the vehicle was on the ranch since almost new. It wasdiscovered amongst other abandoned farm equipment and quite possibly mayhave only had two owners.
Its swooping fenders, slantedwindshield, sloped back and airship hood ornament pay homage to thebeginnings of aerodynamic auto design referred to as streamlining.
This car is great to excellent condition and runs beautifully, starts every time, very dependable. There is no rust however there is a slight bubbling in the paint at the body edge at the rear bumper and the frame has surface rust. Paint is nice to excellent with a slight overspray on the left rear fender. All glass and interior are excellent. All chrome is excellent with the exception of thee hubcaps that have not been re-chromed. Tires and rubber are all excellent. The original spare tire and wheel remain in the spare tire compartment. Ready to run and be the star at any show. Manual brakes and manual steering. Mileage is unknown.
