Description
1961 Morris Minor 1000
Rust Free
Nice driving vintage car
I am selling my 1961 Morris Minor 1000 two door sedan, I have too many cars, trying to get down to just 4 collector cars! :)
This is a nice running driving rust free example, miles are said to be original (I cannot verify that) and I am said to be the third owner. (Perhaps some Sherlock Holmes detective work can find that out)
The car was repainted in the last five years with new gaskets, tires, carpet, brakes, fuel lines, fuel pump, bumpers chromed, etc. Almost everything renewed or restored. To keep some of the cars personality, the dash paint is original, along with the steering wheel and most of the interior. There is wear visible in the interior, but she's looking good for 51 years old.
She starts easily, runs strong with all 40? single carb horsepower she has. Steers easily and tracks straight, and the weak 7 inch drums pull up as smartly and true as 7 inch drums can!
She is ready to drive and needs nothing if you don't want a project, or if you like to tinker there are a handful of small projects that can keep you busy without ever having to take her off the road if you want. The turn signals work, but the light at the end of the indicator stalk is inconsistent-these are available if you like. The horizontal window scrapers on the doors are not on the car and I do not have these. Nor do I have the inner door pulls, I close the door pulling on the upper edge by the glass. The hinges for the glove box doors are not correct and do not fit, however the doors do stay clipped in place when shut. Since the car is North American spec it was fitted with flashing turn signals. 1961 is the last year semiphores/ trafficators could be fitted in some markets and this car has the blanking pieces painted separately so they could be fitted if desired. ( I think this would be really cool).
The car has also been converted to negative ground, so the charging light is always on in the instrument, I've never gotten around to taking the bulb out!
The 1961 Washington license plate does not come with the car, sorry.
Any other questions or if you want to test drive please call me at a decent hour Pacific standard time.
