Description
Illness warrants sell of this rare 1940's classic. Can not care and use it so need to find it a new home.
The vehicle is a driver in very good condition, as can be seen by the photos provided. Just need of a good cleaning and proper attention, but ready for car event use.
The stock 288 ci straight-eight flathead engine runs great with a three-speed electric over-drive (OD) transmission. Has the Electromatic clutch feature (shifting without clutch use once in motion). The gear ration has been changed to 3:92 from the stock 4:11, for higher speed cruising. Quiet single exhaust system with stock style muffler. Car idles smoothly and purrs down the road.
Generator changed to a 75 amp alternator (has the stock 6-volt negative-ground system). Also has an electronic ignition installed.
Body is solid and straight. Does need renewed paint. All trim attached and chrome is in good condition (redone some years ago by the previous owner). The 1947 center grill matches the side grill design (see photo provided). 3-bullet hole stickers are located on the front left fender for humor (can be removed). Also there is a Betty Boop sticker on the edge of the right rear trunk/fender to cover up a flaw in the paint (chipped surface).
Interior tastefully redone with era style and fabric in mind. Some extra chrome done for show appeal (steering column, heater and window ceils). Front and rear seat belts and turn signal system has been installed for safety. Having a large rear seat it is able to haul friends and grand children too while cruising or doing parades. O;d Yeller is an head turner, with lots of praise provided when out and about.
Glass in excellent condition, with the exception of one cracked rear vent pane that can be easily replaced.
Kenwood stereo with CD player and iPod connector installed with new speakers front and rear.
New Firestone tires including the spare. Wheels have been power-coated Packard logo red.
Extra parts will be provided with the car sell. Has a set of stock rear fender skirts to be provided.
Vehicle for sale locally, but will stop local sale with initial eBay bid. Will cancel eBay auction if sold locally with no bids provided. This Packard is priced to sell.
$500 nonrefundable deposit will be due within 48-hours of auction closure (PayPal account), with remainder due soon there after as can be arranged (timeliness and manner) with the buyer. Transportation arrangements and cost will be the responsibility of the buyer upon full payment receipt. Car is located in Rainier, Oregon (97048). Vehicle is reliable and drivable but recommend transport by use of an enclosed carrier.
Any questions, call Don at (503) 556-4310.
Vehicle sold as-is, with no warranty provided.
Have sold numerous classic cars on eBay before with no negative feedback received.
Added note: Taking some new medication (have a form of cancer) this week that has perked-me-up, so if it doesn't sell I think I will be able care for and put this rare Packard Clipper to good use. However, will let this auction take it's course. Initial opening bid is firm, don't expect to call afterwords to offer less.
