This is a great little car, we will be sad to see it go!
We've owned this car for about 18 months and have had no issues.
It is great fun to drive, drives great and has served us well! And it fits into a lot of car-parks other cars wouldn't fit!
Great for driving around in the city or on the freeway at 100kmh+ no problem.
We're selling as we're due to move to Perth in 2 months and need to get rid of it.
Until very recently, car was kept undercover in a garage.
I have tried to be as detailed as possible below, please see pictures as part of description.
Mechanical Condition
The car was bought from last owner registered and only took a few small items fixed to get roadworthy.
Features a 1.6L Electronic-Fuel-Injection engine.
This is the best of the 'si' models, with the closest engine power to the famous 'gti' model.
The car has been regularly serviced by a specialist Peugeot mechanic and we have only ever put 95 octane fuel in it.
The car has just had a major service and a few small items fixed, is in great condition!
The previous owner had the original engine replaced with another re-built engine just a couple of years ago, so mechanically the car is in very good condition.
I have nearly all work receipts and info, including the original service logbooks from the first owner.
As I say above, it is fine driving in city traffic or on the freeway at 100kmh+, we've never broken down or had any overheating issues or anything like that.
If any parts are ever needed they are quite easy to come by as this was a very popular car back when it was released. Used parts are quite common and new parts are still made.
The car has a bit of a cult following, particularly in the UK, so there's heaps of parts and accessories etc on ebay and other places.
Declared 'car of the decade' in the 90s!
Interior Condition
The interior is generally in very good condition. All upholstery, carpet and trim is original. We've put in some mats to protect the carpet.
Seats have no stains or marks and there are no rips in the fabric.
The padding on the drivers seat is basically good as new, whilst the front passenger seat padding is a little squished on one side.
The front dashboard has a few small cracks from age, but all driving controls etc work fine.
The rubber on the transmission gear-stick has crumbled off a little bit from age, but still works perfectly fine.
There is a small crack in the steering wheel rubber, but this doesn't affect driving and is easily replaceable if you wish.
All the original air-con fan buttons etc work fine. Our mechanic did some work on the heater to fix it up.
The car quite comfortably seats 4 people, 5 is a little squishy. I am 6ft2 and I have plenty of room sitting up the front.
The rear seats can be folded down to extend the boot space, which is actually quite large.
Missing the right-side book/cd shelf on the door. Never really bothered me. Replacements easily available.
They fold down individually, so you can have one side down whilst still having somebody sit on the other side.
Exterior Condition
The car is silver, the original colour, in good condition.
It has a few small scuffs and scratches, normal for a car of its age.
There is a very small area of paint flaking off just around the windows on the driver's side.
It is not rusted, just flaking off, and can be fixed very easily with a can of clear-coat spray from Supercheap auto etc.
As far as I can tell all windows etc are original, with several of the original Peugeot stickers etc.
Side mirrors are all fine.
Features slim-line number plates.
Audio, electrics etc
The car has a built-in bluetooth hands-free phone system, still working fine. Very handy!
Previous owner spent a lot of time and money putting in a better audio system. A JVC CD player has been fitted in the dash and two new speakers fitted in the rear tray above the boot.
There is also two extra 12 volt plugs in the front dash for plugging in USB plugs etc.
In the boot there is a dedicated audio amp fitted on the left hand side and an extra battery to power the audio system is fitted on the right.
The amp fits perfectly and doesn't take up much boot space at all, whilst the second battery obviously takes up a little space. Both the amp and the battery can very easily be removed if you want.
The second battery is very handy for camping etc and has a transformer to a regular household plug, plus two more 12 volt plugs.
The boot also has extra LED lighting fitted, again very handy in the dark, camping etc.
Features fog lights
Car has central locking, and a steering wheel immobiliser system is installed.
Windows are power windows.
Wheels + Tyres
Car comes with two sets of wheels.
Set A - The original factory Peugeot wheels. The tyres fitted to these wheels are a little worn and probably wouldn't make roadworthy.
These wheels are currently on the car. And we have the original Peugeot bolt-caps that can be fitted too.
Set B - A slightly larger set bought by the previous owner. The tyres on this set are in much better condition.
I think 2 of them would probably be roadworthy, whilst two are perhaps too worn. However I'm no mechanic so I can't say for sure. Worth several hundred dollars themselves.
There is also the spare tyre, currently on the car. This sits underneath the boot, providing extra boot space. There is a jack and wrench in there with the wheel. Visible in some photos..
Registration
The car is currently registered in Victoria. Registration will run out on 7th February 2016. Again, this is worth several hundred dollars in itself.
The car is being sold as-is, with registration, but with no certificate of roadworthiness.
It is the buyer's responsibility to take the car to a mechanic and have the car assessed for roadworthy, and have any items fixed if required.
We will happily give you our mechanics details. They are great, very trustworthy and know the car well.
Once that is done, the registration can be transferred into your name at Vicroads.
Whilst I have done my best to describe the condition of the car, I am not a mechanic so the car is sold as-is.
If you wish, we can sell you the car without registration. If you wish to do this, we can refund you some of the registration rebate value from Vicroads.
Extras
Comes with wheel jack, jumper leads and the Haynes illustrated workshop book for Peugeot 205.
PICKUP
The car is located in East Melbourne, Victoria, close to tram, bus and train stops so quite easy to reach on Public Transport.
We can help to drive the car onto a trailer or tow truck if you want to transport it a long distance or interstate.
