Description
This is a real Plymouth Cuda (not Barracuda). It left the factory as a 340car with an automatic. The 340 was long gone when I bought the Cuda in 2008. It’sbeen upgraded to a fuel injected 440 engine with aluminum heads and convertedto a 4 speed. It’s a lot of fun to drive.
Motor:
The motor was built by Brian Hafliger at IMM engines sometime ago. The Spec Sheet in is the pics, as well as the dyno chart. The dynonumbers were with a Holley carburetor. In 2018 the carb was replaced with fuelinjection – a Holley Sniper 550-511K. The fuel tank was replaced with a pump-intank assembly.
Transmission/Rear End:
The transmission is a 18-spline hemi overdrive transmissionfrom Passon Performance. The original 8 ¾ rear end is still in place, with the sure-grip.I believe it may be 3:55 gears but I’m not positive.
Wiring:
Most of the wiring was replaced with M&H harnesses fromYearone.
Interior:
Ratty and old.
Suspension:
Hotchkis Sport Suspension TVS System Part 80112. Thesuspension is a very nice upgrade from stock. It does show the looseness of thestock steering box, which is still in place. The shocks are quality Hotchkis SportSuspension Adjustable Performance Series Shocks part 79030013.
Paint:
The paint was done in 2009. It was nice then, but now hasscratches and dings from parking lots and my kids. It still looks respectablebut its not show quality. The car was solid before it was painted and not rusty.
The car is a blast to drive. With fuel injection, you justturn the key and go. Its rather loud with a 3” Summit exhaust system. No radio. The brakes are manual and stop, but definitely take some leg effort. Peoplefrequently approached me at gas stations to talk – the Cuda is sort of like arolling car show. The lights, parking brake, oil pressure and ammeter all work. The speedo, fuel gauge and horn do not. And no, it won’t stay cool in Las Vegassummers. The title is a clean Nevada title in my name. I have really enjoyed this carover the years. If you have questions, please ask.
