Description

1959 Plymouth Suburban Sport 4 door 9 passenger station wagon
This vehicle was ordered back on 6-9-1959 from the Ed Hoffman dealership in Corpus Christi, Texas. It was built at the Evansville, Indiana plant and shipped via barge to the dealer. Here's a list of how the car was ordered from the window sticker:
Ply Spt 8Cyl 4Dr Sub 9 Pass, two tone paint, Torqueflite, Power steering, Power brakes, Accessory group, Air conditioning, Buffer wing guards(frt only), Swivel seat custom, Mirror Left R/Cont Sta/ Right, Prismatic mirror, Padded inst panel, Pushbutton radio, Solex glass, Custom steering wheel, 4 ply wsw 8.00 x 14, Antifreeze, destination charges, barge allowance.
I purchased this vehicle June of 2011. I was told by the previous owner that he had purchased it from the original owner and that's when he started the restoration. When I got the vehicle it needed a lot of work to get back on the road safely. Here's a list of things I've done since I've had it:
Pulled the gas tank out and had it redone at Renu (cleaned out fuel lines), Had the transmission rebuilt due to it not shifting correctly, Replaced all front end parts (ball joints, bushings, etc.) and had front end aligned, Rebuilt the carburetor, Rebuilt the power steering pump, Rebuilt the starter, Rebuilt the brakes and installed disc brakes on the front to make the vehicle have a little better stopping power. The vehicle also has a rear power window, rear facing seat, child proof door locks. This car is loaded with all the great options! The engine is a 318/260 HP V8 and has a torqueflight pushbutton automatic transmission. I also have a set of fender skirts that are for a fury that with a little modification would fit and look good. I do have the original dealership order form, the original window sticker, shop service manual, shop supplemental manual, and shop parts manual.
What still needs to be done: Get A/C working, hook up radio, padded dash redone, install interior dome light
The car runs and drives great! When was the last time you've seen one of these? The Original Grocery Getter!!
