Description
1968 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNER A12 TRIBUTE, 440, AT, 3:23 POSI
This started life as a solid Sport Satellite & now you would have a hard time finding anything that wasn't custom Roadrunner. This has some really nice goodies including hooker headers, 440 engine with Eldebrock Performer carburetor & 3:23 8 3/4" posi. The wheels are a matching set of factory gloss black 15X5.5 steelies held on with chrome lug nuts like the A12 option used. Tires are a matching set of black walls with no dry rot & plenty of tread. Also for the A12 option is the fiberglass scoop hood: but this is held on by the hinges: no lifting off required. The 1969 Roadrunner door emblems/decals also went better with the A12 option.
The interior is lightly customized with Legendary Interiors: 1968 Plymouth GTX pattern & professionally installed on solid buckets & rear seat frames. The carpet is ACC & perfectly fit. The headliner is REM & put in by the best: so good you could bounce a quarter off it. It has a new deluxe rear package tray & new glove box liner. The steering wheel has no cracks & a new center logo. The door & 1/4 window glass rolls up & down flawlessly & have a light tint that when rolled up really make the car look mean.
The paint looks good from a distance & shows well in the photos but it was painted in a dirt floor garage with minimal attention to perfect bodywork & more attention to getting it on the road asap. However, you will find that extra care was taken in the door jambs, door hinge areas & trunk gaps for less work later. There are many slight dings, cracks & obvious bondo issues as well as dirt in the lightly applied paint. The body lines are straight & the gaps are right, the doors open & close correctly, hinges all good. There is no rust in the trunk lid, door bottoms or fenders. The car is something you can play with & not be afraid to get dirty or park in any parking place. You can use it, tune it & even turn heads with it as is & when you are ready for the color of your choice you have a solid body to get it done right.
Both bumpers are straight (rear has one slight dent) & have 90% of chrome so they look good. The grille & headlight bezels are really straight: they were carefully cleaned, taped & painted the correct colors. All other body molding is straight, clean (no over spray) & original as well as firmly attached. All lights work, turn signals, hi-lo, even the little marker lights on the sides! Headlights are a matching set of original GE bulbs. Factory Be-Beep horn works! Heater & defroster work: no radiator fluid leaks. Alternator charges well.
The brakes are completely redone & work 100% with no issues. It has a nice big 4 core brass radiator with no issues so it keeps that 440 cool. The suspension has had some work done & its dialed in correctly so she rides great. You get a new gas tank, sending unit AND lines front to back: so no dirt or rust unless you put it there. The 3:23 sure grip is well installed & the engines power will help the tires rip two long slices into any gravel driveway.
The frame is solid front to back as are the floors & trunk pan, any repairs were done professionally. If it was possible to detail something it was done. Detail is fun & usually inexpensive so take a look closely at the photos & you will see slight details usually ignored: over spray cleaned off, new rubber door bumpers, ash tray painted, the correct screws used in the correct places, front hub dust covers painted silver, factory jack painted the correct colors & placed correctly, etc. You cant see all the slight detail stuff in these photos but you will be impressed when you get it up close.
