1972 PONTIAC FIREBIRD FORMULA 400-
RELISTED DUE TO AN UNRESPONSIVE BIDDER
NO RESERVE AUCTION.
This is a real Formula 400 car. However it is NOT numbers matching. I purchased this Firebird at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, AZ auction in January 2017.
It is currently set up in what I would call a custom Pro Touring stance. Under the hood is a Pontiac 400 V8, mated to a 3-Speed Auto trans with B&M Quik Silver shifter. The 400 features Long tube headers with a custom dual exhaust, Champion racing radiator, Edelbrock intake manifold, Hi Torque starter, and has been sorted and gone through quite well. It fires right up, doesn't smoke or burn oil and runs/sounds amazing! I put approx 100 miles on it every Sunday with no issues at all.
The brake lines have been replaced along with the brake booster and operate flawlessly. Also the fuel lines are new and have no leaks what so ever.
As for the suspension. It's been slightly lowered for an aggressive stance. It sits on 18" Wheels out front and 20" Wheels in the back, both wrapped in almost new rubber. Power disc brakes out front. It handles amazingly well and stops just as fine. I do not know what gearing is in the rear end but it is a posi.
For the exterior. It still retains the Formula twin scoop hood. LED Halo headlights. Its finished in a Pearl White with Tuxedo black hood and trunk lid/spoiler. The paint is very good quality however it is a driver. Slight bubbling on the rear trunk lid/spoiler and minor knicks and runs here and there. Again very nice but driver quality.
It does have some minimal rust. The Drivers side in front of the rear tire has a smaller size rust area that you can see in the phots. The paint bubbled so I had it sanded down and discovered the issue. They do make a patch panel for this common area. I've had the car in the air and the undercarriage is surprisingly clean and solid see pictures. Overall a very solid car with minimal rust in the normal areas. You can 100% leave it like it is and have a high quality driver or spend a little time and effort and have a real show piece.
The interior has a new carpet kit and headliner, custom racing "recaro" style seats. The Dash appears to be original and is in amazing condition. All the gauges currently work with the expection of the fuel and clock. The fuel gauge works intermittently. All the back lighting on the dash works, the wipers work, the headlight switches including the high beams work as they should. Turn signals work, brake lights etc all good. The Windshield wipers even operate well. It comes equipped with an aftermarket radio and decent speakers. Currently missing the rear seat. The carpet kit covers it well and honestly looks factory without it.
To sum up..
This is again a real Formula 400 car. 1972 was the lowest production year only 2,429 produced that year. So a super rare opportunity here.
Overall a very solid well sorted Driver Quality example. Everywhere I go this car snaps necks. It runs, drives, stops, turns, handles excellent! No issues what so ever. This is NOT an A/C car or a HEAT car. The heater core has been bypassed. No need for that in Arizona. Own a Barrett-Jackson car without all the hassle. NO RESERVE AUCTION FOR A QUICK SALE!!
Free and clear Arizona title in hand! Actual miles unknown. If you have any further questions please shoot me an email and we can talk or I can send specific pics if you desire.
