Description

Vehicle Original VIN : 226871N123866
Presenting in our Atlanta showroom is a 1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula. This 1971 Pontiac Firebird formula 455 H.O., 4 speed, with Factory Air Conditioning is Rare! Extensive research of available documentation establishes almost 80 (eighty) similarly equipped Pontiac Firebird Formulas were manufactured in 1971. Using the US Department of Transportation's scrappage rate of 6.3% (attrition), for gasoline vehicles in this weight class, less than 4 of these vehicles remain in the world! It's entirely possible this is the only one with original parts, or it could be the last ONE altogether! This gem is for the unique individual that desires something truly extraordinary.

A solidly documented, nut & bolt Frame-off/Rotisserie authentic restoration was completed to this Numbers Matching Formula in 2010. The fit and finish is a much higher standard than when the 455 H.O. was new. The car looks beautiful and with its Muncie 4 speed (Rock Crusher) and Rochester Quadra-Jet 4 BBL carburetor it runs better than it looks! The car runs like it was new. (The present owner knows it runs like new because he owned a brown 1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 455 H.O, 4 speed, with Factory Air in 1971). All components of the car operate, including the Frigidaire Factory Air Conditioning. The Original Window Sticker and keys are included. This car is AMAZING!

This Formula retains original sheet metal, original numbers-matching driveline, and much factory original documentation from Day One. Purchased new on April 19, 1971 from Von Schledorn Pontiac in Menomonee Falls Wisconsin, this Formula has had only two previous owners. (Protect-O-Plate included). It's finished in its factory original color, Laurentian Green (Code M - 1971 color swatches included) with Saddle color Bucket Seats (Code 213).
The Laurentian Green paint is buffed & polished to a mirror-like shine. All chrome & original stainless trim is in show quality condition. You can walk around this Formula and not find a bad angle. The authentic restoration on this car is wonderful. The undercarriage is show-ready. The stock Rally 2 steel Wheels and rocker moldings are original.

1971 was the year Pontiac's 455 H.O. engine achieved 480 Foot Pounds of torque. A desirable quality of the 455 H.O. engines was the Select Fit process during line assembly of the engines. This allowed for closer tolerances resulting in a nearly blueprinted engine - direct from the factory. (Torque dropped to 415 ft. lbs. in 1972).

This dual exhaust splendor includes a “Hurst" shifter, front fender extractors, an Endura bumper, side door guard beams, a 160 mph speedometer, and 8000 RPM tachometer.

Original factory options include:
C60 - Frigidaire Factory Air Conditioning.
LS5 - 455 H.O. engine with Rochester Quadra-Jet 4 BBL carburetor.
M-22 - Muncie Rock-Crusher 4 speed HD Close ratio transmission and 3.42 Sure Grip Rear Differential
N41 - Variable Ratio Power Steering.
J50 - Power Brakes.
Y99 - Handling Package.
NK3 - Formula Steering Wheel.
C50 - Rear Window Defogger. U58 - AM-FM Stereo Radio. U30 - Rally Gauge Cluster Clock & Tachometer. D55 - Center Console. AK1 - Custom Seat Belts with Shoulder Harnesses. A01 - Soft Ray tinted glass all windows. B80 - Roof Drip Scalp Moldings. B96 - Moldings Wheel Openings. W54 - Custom Trim, includes Trunk Mat, Rear Quarter ash trays, Door handle inserts, Roof Panel Insulation.

This unique treasure is investment grade American Muscle Car. Its condition and rarity will certainly continue to increase its value. [ omitted ]. You can also visit our Atlanta showroom 1870 Mcfarland Parkway, Suite 300 Alpharetta,GA 30005
