Description
-tab-span This auction is for an immaculate, One-owner, Firebird WS6 Performance Package, RAM Air, glass T-Top, in Pontiac Bright Red with Grey interior.
This car is a rare, authentic WS6, not a clone or replica, with original WS6 Alloy wheels and badges. Power comes from the potent LT1 V8, coupled with a new Jasper automatic transmission that is smooth shifting,.
Clear title, and clean CarFax shows excellent maintenance throughout its life.
This Formula V8 WSP Formula is fun to drive, and steadily increasing in value. Always garaged since new, and never had a smoker in it. Completely rust free. Runs very strong with absolutely no smoke, very clean oil. No leaks.
This LT1 motors must have been rebuilt. I have no paper work but the engine has great compression, does not smoke, and the oil is very clean.
This car is fast, with 305 horsepower, and handles great !
When servicing the car recently, my mechanic informed me that it has a new Jasper transmission. He is very familiar with the company that makes the best OEM transmissions, and recognized their labels, etc.
Comes with original Owners Manual & car cover.
I purchased this car from the original owner, and have not registered the car in my name, nor retitled it yet, so the winning bidder will be the 2nd owner on record. It was kept, by the original owner, at a 2nd summer home in the North Carolina mountains and never driven on salt treated roads. The undercarriage is very honest with no rust, and NO black undercoating that is often used to hide rusted floor pans ! This car is solid.
I am not a dealer, but just helping a friend.
All switches and gauges work except for the window lock switch on the drivers side door, and the glove compartment door latch does not catch. The lid has been velcroed. Although the tires show plenty of tread remaining, I would suggest buying new tires as these, Firestone Firehawk 275/40R17 are out of date.
Don’t miss this one ! This car is sold As-Is, and carries no warranty.
THANK YOU FOR BIDDING AND GOOD LUCK !
An Auto Channel Article wrote of the 1996 Firebird WS6 Formula:
“The WS6 option pack is a balanced combination of engine and suspension upgrades. It gives a Formula or Trans Am the raw power of the muscle car era with contemporary braking, suspension, and safety technology. The most apparent WS6 feature is a functional hood scoop. That ram-air intake and other modifications help the engine to produce 310 horsepower. Four-wheel antilock vented disc brakes, a heavy-duty specially-tuned suspension, and 275/40 ZR17 tires on alloy wheels ensure that stopping and cornering abilities are in line with the increased power.
A week in a Firebird Formula WS6 was quite entertaining. For all of its race car looks and sounds, the WS6 proved to be a comfortable, modern sports coupe with all of the power to back up its image. Definitely a wolf in wolf's clothing.
“PERFORMANCE: At idle, the Firebird WS6 gives its driver the feeling that there is a large amount of horsepower waiting to be unleashed. This is no illusion - 305 horsepower in a 3500 pound car may not give the raw acceleration of John Force's Pontiac funny car dragster, but there are few street machines that are quicker. The sound coming out of the twin cast aluminum exhausts is pure glass- pack rumble. Yet, this car is no finicky, uncivilized beast. It is as content to idle through traffic as it is to go fast. My test car had the optional 4-speed automatic transmission, which made traffic less frustrating than the standard 6-speed manual transmission. Because the engine is only turning 2000 rpm at highway speeds, gas mileage can be pretty respectable.
“CONCLUSIONS: The 1996 Pontiac Firebird Formula WS6 is a high-performance combination of muscle car attitude and modern technology.”
