Description

1964 Pontiac Grand Prix. I bought this car from a collector last year. No one had driven or registered the car since the mid 1970s. I restored just enough of the engine to make the car driveable. I put the new set of 4 tires on the car, went through the bearings, the brakes, cleaned the fuel tank, had to install a new radiator and so on. I also had the dual exhaust system put on with factory quiet mufflers. I've put about 1,000 miles on the car since I got it running in December of 2014. I drive it to work almost every day even though I have a new car that I could drive. The Pontiac just drives better and opening up the 389 V8 on open highway is no problem. The transmission shifts great! No antifreeze leaks since the new radiator has been installed. Engine is solid and runs great but it does smoke a little bit under hard acceleration and the old cork oil pan leaks. I replaced the valve cover cork gaskets. It has the originial Carter AFB carburetor, and though I installed HEI ignition, the original points distributor is in the trunk. I don't know why the dual horns for the car were in the trunk when I bought it, but I never had time to fix that. Everything else works, heater, lights, windshield wipers, even the washer fluid motor works! Its all here. I also have the rear trim which was in the trunk of the car when I bought it. Also, this car has the option of a 20ft long wire that is rolled into the trunk lid. Light still works! We unrolled it and it reaches to the front of the car. I had never seen that before!! Its just amazing all the cool features that cars had 50 years ago. The specs online say this car is stock at 333 HP and 420 foot-pounds of torque. It sure feels like it can move down the road. Thanks for looking, and write me with any questions. I've only had the car 4 months, but I've decided that I want to build a hot-rod, and I felt that this particular car was in just too good of an original state to go pulling the engine, and changing everything thing and such. The engine and just about everything on the car are original right down to the original hubcaps.
