Description
2006 GTO 6.6 LITER
For 27 years my wife and I owned and operated Performance Chevrolet Buick Pontiac GMC in Mountain Home, Idaho. During the last 13 years I also owned and operated KR Hotrods out of the same 25,000 sq ft facility. We were building 14-20 high end cars per year. Earlier in my career I personally was an ASE Master Technician. This GTO was my personal car and it was not built for sale, so I believe you all know that when you build your own car you don’t consider the cost of product and build to perfection.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION
Mike’s Racing built this motor. Just the motor cost over $25K. I used the stock 6.0 L aluminum block and installed a Callies forged stroker crankshaft making this motor a 6.6 L motor. Oliver forged connecting rods, Diamond (dual coated) forged pistions all kept together with ARP fasteners. The cylinder heads are custom aluminum ARF. Camshaft is from Comp Cams specifically chosen by Mike’s Racing and his Comp Cams rep for this motor know that we were going to add a TVS 2300 Magnuson Super Charger running 12 psi of boost. The in tank fuel pump has been replaced with a custom Walbro unit. The driveshaft has been replaced with a one piece billet aluminum 3 ½ “ shaft. The sub-frame has been beefed up with welded sub-frame connectors by BMR, along with aluminum skid plates and metal driveshaft safety loop. The rear differential is factory connected with only 3 links. This GTO has a complete Harrop 4 link connection. Including Harrop differential cover, polyurethan bushings, drag bags, Koni adjustable rear shocks, 1 ½ “ custom billet axles with billet CV joints. The clutch is a MecLoed’s dual disc street clutch rated at 1,000 hp.
VEHICLE DETAILS
To monitor this amazing motor I installed SCSS Gator Pod in the center of the dash with Auto Meter mechanical Oil Pressure and Water Temp gauges. On the drivers A-pillar are Auto Meter pyrometer and boost/vacuum gauges. Next to the driver’s A-pillar is a MSD pencil shift light which is set for 7,100 rpm.
The final chassis dyno produced 788 hp on 91 octane pump gas in which Boise, Idaho is 2,800 feet above sea level. I believe the most outstanding motor number on this GTO is the fact that at 3,800 rpm it has 612 lbs. ft. of torque at the rear wheels. The interior is perfect with no modifications except those listed ie: gauges, shift light. This GTO runs cool and starts and drives like a stock vehicle until you press the throttle. This past month I installed new performance Catalytic convertors and new Resonators into the custom exhaust system which includes an X- Pipe 3” Exhaust Adaptor connector dual coupling. This GTO is honestly very quiet inside the vehicle. This GTO has always been stored in a heated Air Condition Garage. It is ready for you to drive home if you choose. No disappointments!
