Description
PHS documented 1974 Pontiac Ventura Custom GTO, factory 4 speed car. Presently has a rebuilt 455 HO 4 bolt main dynoed at almost 400 hp and 500 torque. Bolted to it was a brand new Muncie supercase M22W 4 speed rated for 800 hp. Auto was rotisirrie restored 8 years ago. Motor runs extremely nice and has been extremely reliable. Has a 750 dp Quick fuel carb bolted onto an Edelbrock Torker Manifold. Hooker headers flow through 2 and 1/2" exhaust and Super Vee mufflers. Sounds very cool. Car is presently appraised and insured for 28k CAD.
All rubbers, bushings, etc. were replaced at time of restoration. Factory color of Bucaneer red, Spieshecker base/clear. Wet sanded smooth and polished. Paint overall is very gorgeous but is 8 years old. Some minor chips, etc. have been touched up. I built the car to drive. New half quarters, outer inner wells and trunk drops were installed. Entire undercarriage was sandblasted and painted with chassis saver as well as differential and front subframe and components. Rear dif was beefed up with double heavy duty U bolts as the factory setup was unable to hold together with the extra power. Dif was rebuilt and 3:42 gears were installed. Has 10" clutch and is very strong. Shifter is a Hurst Super Shifter. Bumpers were rechromed. Has 4 wheel drum brakes and a 3 core rad. No overheating issues. Can't remember if shaker flap works or not. Have it wired open. All the pieces are there for it (solenoid, etc)
I have run 5/50 synthetic oil since installing the 455 and put @ 24,000 miles on the car. Motor is bored .030 over and has a ram air IV cam. Does not burn oil.The car is very solid and rust free. It had 97,000 miles at time of resto. I have original motor and trans (which ran well when I pulled them) and pretty much all the original parts other than the AM radio. They will go with the car. I will strap them to a crate and box them up. Also have bill history since new, all the original GM manuals, sales brochure, PHS documentation that will go with it. Motor has had a small oil leak since day 1 from the rope seal. Usually have to add a quart a season to compensate. Drivers seat back has some wear and rear seat base gas a small tear (pics included). Had bought a new factory type temp gauge but it turned out to be a dud so installed an aftermarket one. Amp gauge doesn't work either. Reverse lights work by toggle switch in shifter base. Has a JVC stereo connected to two Alpine speakers. A Ventura dash plate was cut up to fit the stereo and the original was boxed up.
This is an absolutely fun car to drive. Turns heads everywhere. Has not been abused and do not drag race it. Been used for fun summer nights of cruising and the occasional car show. I have a video of the car idling here.
