Description
. It is a 1955 Pontiac Star Chief 287 Strato Streak V8 200 horsepower engine with original Carter 4 barrel carburetor. This is a PERIOD correct numbers matching car! It is a dual range 4 speed hydra-matic transmission with two toned fireside gold and ivory paint with matching interior. The car turned into a labor of love where thousands of dollars have been invested into it since I purchased the car in 2004 out of Florida.I started a frame on restoration from the ground up. The first thing I did was have the bottom undercoated with POR-15,all new brake shoes, all new shocks 2 new hubs and basically everything underneath was new old stock.Once this was completed the engine was next. The engine was pulled and rebuilt and work on the body was being done at the same time. Many pieces were re chromed or replaced with new old stock. The engine was torn down to bare block, dipped in acid and rebuilt by third generation engine builder Albert Houck, Houck's Service Arbutus,MD. The engine has approx. 3000 miles since being rebuilt and it purrs like a kitten! Body was completed--only very little rust issues around the roof edges. The next thing was to completely re paint the whole car. Then the interior was redone as you can see to a high grade quality. All gauges including the radio are in working order. The last thing that was done was a new headliner and visors earlier this year along with four new white wall radials! ..Like I stated earlier it became a labor of love that has won many awards in different shows in the mid atlantic region. The two I am most proud of are a top 40 win at the monster mile at Dover Downs Speedway--as you can see in one of the pictures that was taken in the winners circle. But my most proud was being chosen to represent 1955 in the state of Maryland DMV Bicentennial celebration--and my car was chosen over many Chevy's, Fords's etc. for its originality.(to view photo album of over 75 pictures click on this link) ifclicking does not work copy and paste and open in a new web browser.
