Description
If you are in the market for the car that nobody else has this is a fine choice. What makes this car so unusual is that it is a Canadian manufactured Pontiac and during the years the Pathfinder series were made, 1955-1958, they used Pontiac bodies on Chevrolet chassis which makes this car 3"es shorter than a Safari model of the same year and the same chassis as the Nomad. That is why they are known as "Cheviacs" in the collector world. In 1957 they only made 500 or so wagons of which very few made it out of the rust belt alive. This car is a survivor of one of the most iconic eras of motor cars and being a two door with a rear lift gate it is perhaps the only one of its kind today.
The paint and chrome are all original but there is only some surface rust on the vehicle and no rot and never any actual body damage. All the glass is clear and unblemished. The interior is tastefully redone, the headliner is in great shape. All door and window crank handles are in place also. There is a fully louvered hood that comes with the car also.
The car was mildly rodded a number of years ago. A 327 ci truck motor was installed, 3 spd auto w/cooler, headers/dual exhaust, air conditioning, tilt wheel to name a few of the mods which were all tastefully done without compromising the original flavor of the car. It drives fine and has good power. Not sure what the rear end ratio is but it favors the upper end and is not a tire burner off the line but cruises effortlessly. The original shoe brakes front and rear were recently redone but also includes a disc brake kit for the front that is not installed.
While you will see Nomads and Safari's at car shows you will never see another one of these so don't miss out on the opportunity to own this. I have had this car parked next to a restored Nomad at a car show and it got more attention from the crowd. Which didn't make the Nomad guy real happy. It is a thumbs up car wherever you take it in the condition it is in and will baffle all but the most knowledgable car nut as to just what the heck it is!
The Buy It Now price reflects the rarity of this car and if you feel it is unreasonable try the make offer button, you may be surprised! Clear Oregon title is in my possession. Payment via PayPal, Certified Check, Bank Transfer or Money Order. $1000 deposit due at time of sale and full payment within 7 days.
