Description
You`re looking at a 1954 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible, imported to Norway from USA in 1988, as a non-running car in total need of restoration, however, quite solid and mostly complete. I collected NOS and good correct parts several years before I started taking it apart. Me, I am a retired mechanic, maintaining and restoring cars for 50 years, mostly GM vehicles. (Also a long time member of the Pontiac Oakland Club International).
When purchased, it was yellow (see photo), but the bottom color was Laurel Green, a color you will not find in the brochure, but was presented available in a mid-year bulletin.
This car has many options, all correct according to the 1954 brochure, like power-steering, power-brakes, power-antenna, power-windows (front only in 1954), wire wheel hubcaps, spotlight and the compass. The radio in restored too, and can now tune in both AM and FM.
In short, everything on this car is either rebuild, relined, re-cromed, re-painted, restored, polished (stainless steel), NOS, NORS or new. Except for the differential which was considered usable with an oil change. The project was finished in 2000 and used occasionally in summers since, Driven about 8000 miles since restored. The odometer now reads 50886 miles. It has some sign of use and age, but still very presentable inside and out. It is currently getting four new 7.10R-15 ww tires. All pictures (except for the 3 scanned photographs) are no older than a few months. If it sells, I can help bringing the car to the nearest harbor, which is Oslo, Norway. Please feel free to ask any questions or request pictures
