Description

This 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is one of the nicest Trans Ams available and is not only great at shows, but fun to drive. This car is not a trailer queen, but is one meant to be driven and enjoyed. It is kept in my garage when not being driven. Of course it is not perfect, but it has been restored and is in great shape in both appearance and mechanically. I have owned this car for three years. The restoration was completed prior to my owning it
-Rebuilt Pontiac 400, 6.6L, 220hp engine. It is probably the original engine because it has “X7” (for 1978 W72, automatic model), but I cannot see the VIN to confirm if it is numbers matching
-Hooker headers and an aluminum radiator have been installed
-Excellent body and shiny paint with no flaws except for the front bumper has a small crack from a misused bumper jack (see photo)
-The trunk floor, left side, has had a small patch applied and is barely noticeable (see photo)
-The interior is cloth and in perfect condition, including the headliner
-Beautiful snowflake wheels and tires with lots of tread remaining
-All decals and badges are in place and have no cracks or defects
-Automatic transmission shifts smoothly and tight (I do not know if it has ever been rebuilt or not)
-All gauges, except the water temperature and clock, work. Aftermarket temp. gauge works
-All lights work as they should.
-Tilt Steering wheel, aftermarket radio, power brakes, power steering
-The air conditioner compressor and lines have been removed, but I have them available
-The power windows work very well, and all glass is clear and no cracks
-The engine starts and runs great, and sounds AWESOME! It is very stable on the road, the steering is tight, and has lots of power
-Smooth idle and no smoke
-60,152 actual miles on the date of this listing and clean Virginia title in my name
-The parking brake and cruise control are not connected, and the heater fan seems to have only low speed but these were not of great importance to me so I have never had them repaired
-In addition to the engine overhaul, paint, and interior restoration, the following have also been replaced: All rubber seals, Windshield wiper motor and blades, power steering pump. Steering gear box, entire exhaust system, alternator, door strikers, and ignition switch
