Description
I’m selling my 1970 ½ Pontiac Trans am Ram Air III that I
acquired eight years ago to do a high-end restoration. My intentions were to
make this car virtually brand new again, which I’ve nearly done so. As you can
tell from the photos, this is a project car that’s roughly 90% completed. All
the hard work, and expensive parts has been done/purchased, but with no time to
spare, I’m moving it along at a heavy loss for someone else to finish. The
photos in the link provided give a fantastic look at the project progression
from where I bought it, to where it is now. Please look through them prior to
asking questions.
Below are the highlights of what’s been done so far and what it needs, but I’ll gladly talk serious inquiries through the extensive details and parts replaced:
Here’s a quick history, and specs, about the car, verified by PHS documentation:
· Genuine Ram Air III package –1 of 3,108 made in 1970.
· Automatic Transmission. Original, but freshly rebuilt.
· Factory AC car
· Desert car—spend its life in Texas and AZ.
· Originally Lucerne Blue with Medium Blue interior. 1 of 708 in this color combination.
· It is not numbers matching. The block is indeed a 400, but from 1975.
Body:
All of the hard work, and bulk of expense, has been completed. It just needs final assembly with glass, trim, and lighting. Labor, and very few parts are actually needed to complete exterior. These steps were documented through photos in provided link.
· Frame-off restoration, then body was stripped down to bare metal for the paint job. Finished in 2016 Corvette Laguna Blue. Frame was stripped and repainted black.
· New metal throughout body, and everything is straight and true with no rust.
· All new polyurethane body bushings.
· Trim was taken to black for a chrome delete look, but it can easily be taken back to original, if desired.
· All new Wiring Harness installed for entire car
· Lights have been updated to LEDs
· Full documentation with photos to show the level of work completed.
· New Stripe Kit comes with car
· Black Trim
· Needs front Radiator supports and door hinges.
· All Glass is in good shape, but will need installed.
Engine/Trans:
Hasn’t been turned over in a year, but I do have video of driving it. It will run with proper set up.
· Engine was removed, and then repainted to original Pontiac blue. While it was out, all new gaskets and seals were installed. Chrome valve cover and air cleaner housing.
· Pypes Exhaust System installed
· Summit Racing Headers
· Fully Rebuilt Original Transmission
· Edelbrock 730 CFM Carburetor
· New fuel tank and fuel lines.
· Needs new Battery, and I’d recommend a full tune up and fluids for peace of mind.
Suspension, Brakes:
All new parts.
· Front 2 Inch Drop Spindle Kit with New Bearings
· Rear has 1 ½ Lowering Leaf Springs
· New Front Brake Lines and Brake Booster.
· New Rotors are drilled and slotted. New Calipers/Pads
· New Tie Rods and Suspension Bushings throughout
· Rear brakes will need attention
· Wheels are off a 1973, and the tires were used just for rollers/storage.
Interior:
Interior is complete, but needs assembled. All parts are new with some original blue parts included.
· New Black interior conversion kit:
o Black Dash Pad, Door panels, Seat covers, Carpet, Headliner
· New black Steering Wheel
· New Center Console
· Dynomat Floor Insulation
· New VHT Digital Gauges
Overall, this is a great, rare TA that just needs minor parts and final assembly. I’ve had a lot of money put into the project, and professionals have done most of the work. However, There is quite a bit of work left to enjoy it, but this Trans Am is now nearly new. I replaced many parts to do everything correctly for this car to last me a long time. I’ll gladly talk through the build with serious buyers, as there’s far too much to list. I have piles of receipts that come with the car, along with the PHS documentation. Unfortunately, I cannot finish the build due to lack of time and space, so I’m selling at a massive loss. As they say, my loss is your gain.
AZ Title in hand, and please, only serious inquiries, and offers. I know the market on these cars, and my asking price is fair, but I’m willing to work with serious buyers to get this TA into a good home. Low-ball offers will be ignored, as I’m not in any hurry to sell. Car will need to be trailered away, and will come with all the parts above, and more that I didn’t list and am forgetting.
Thank you for your interest, and message me with questions, and offers. If you want to discuss the car, please send a phone number and I’ll call. A full Google photo album is available upon request with full pictures from the day I brought it home 7 years ago.
Car is being sold as is, where is, with no warranties of any kind implied. Buyer is responsible for pickup of vehicle, shipping costs and arrangements.
