1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Very nice original car ! Thanks for checking out the ebay. I have been asked by the owner to list and represent this car for family. I have looked over the documents and paperwork for the car. It has receipts for mechanical work and it is titled in the owners name and plated with insurance. I have receipts for radiator replacement. Head gaskets and gas tank replacements. The add up to over $2,000. I have copies but no pics online unless requested.
The car has a great history from being new. It was sold new south in Florida to the Mr and Mrs Johnson in Fort Myers and has found its way up to Indiana by the current owner. We have a copy of the original title from 1979. We also have the original owners manual and paperwork for the build sheet.
The car is equipped with the 6.6L v-8 engine and automatic transmission. The car options are A/C and cruise control. I recently drove the car down the highway at 60-70 mph. I expected the car to drift a little but to my surprise it is true and aligned properly. The engine and transmission run and shift smoothly through all the gears. The tires are a little older and have a little tire vibration while driving at 70 mph. I would probably replace tires if your doing to do highway driving. The exhaust system has had the mufflers upgraded but a little light work needs to be done to finish up the later part of the exhaust maybe a few hundred with get it right and tight. All Very nice!
All the lights and gauges work just fine. The turn signals, headlights and wipers radio function nicely. I did notice that the cruise control button on the turn signal did not work. Probably a vacuum leak. The controls on the dash works just fine. The current owner states the A/C works but I did not check that out.
The suspension is nice condition. The brakes work great without any issues. The car drives very nice and steers very well while driving at all speeds. Current miles are about 123,000. Thought to be actual by the previous owner.
The cars exterior is mostly original paint on the top. It looks like a few panels might have been painted over the years. There are a few scraps and chips on the car please review the pics. All the panels look original and the lines and gaps on the panels are spaced nicely. The doors, truck lid and hood open and close without any issues. The decal of the bird is original on the hood. All the glass is extremely clean all the way around. All the trim around the windows are is very good shape.
The interior of the car is in really good condition. The dash has an improved dash cover over it along with looks to be a very nice repaint on the metal part of the dash to the glass. It's so nice if it is original I would be very impressed. The seats, door panels, headliner and package tray are all in very good condition. The armrests and the rear interior panels on the outside should some small issues with paint delamination. Simple to repaint and fix. Please see pics.
The underneath side of the car is in very good condition. No rust and the plumbing all looks great including the brake liners, gas lines, etc. Nothing should need to be done under the car except the exhaust as I mentioned before.
