Description
Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
up for auction today is a 79 Trans am converted from a 79 Firebird.
The car was from Nevada so there was no rust.
Suspension:
To start we removed the front bumper fenders and hood.
The subframe was changed to a ws6 from a ta I had. the upper and lower ball joints and control arm bushings were installed
The final step was to change the inner and outer tie rods
The rear end has a set of air shocks installed
Drivetrain
I powered the car with a YH Pontiac 455 that came from a 70 Bonniville. This is a very sought-after motor. (It is the highest output motor except the ram air with 370 hp.) It has an Edelbrock aluminum intake with a reman. Rochester 4 bbl. carb correct for that year. The transmission is a th350 the rear-end was changed to a disc rear-end with 3:42 gears.
Exhaust
Long tube heeders were installed along with 3" pipe back to the mufflers with a cross over pipe. the mufflers have turndowns. There are no tailpipes and tips.
Interior:
The dash bezel was removed along with all firebird gauges and correct T/A gauges and bezel were installed. Along with a tilt column the carpet, door panels, the back window speaker cover piece were also installed.
Exterior:
The front nose, fenders, hood, and trunk lid were changed to T/A
The whole car was stripped to bare metal the spots that needed repaired were corrected and it was primed with self-etching primer then 2-part primer was applied. The next product that was applied was sealer. Then it was base clear coated. We put some pearl in the paint and whichever way you are looking at it it will be blue or purple. The car was then color sanded and buffed back
10th anniversary decals were installed because they are the biggest and the color matched. 7" snowflake wheels are on the front and 8" snowflakes on the back so i could run wider tires.
The minor issues that i know of on the car are:
The A/C lines are missing, and need replaced then the whole system will need checked out.
It will need the sound system of your choice
There are a few small chips in the paint
The windshield wipers are missing the arms and blades.
The plastic insert on the console is broken.
Please ask any and all questions I want this to be a positive transaction for both parties!!!!!
Thanx for looking
