UP FOR
BID IS MY 1998 993 manual SPEEDSTER conversion
Porsche never officially released a 993 Speedster model. However two were known to have been built by the factory, based on the cabriolet but with a low raked windscreen, lowered hood, humped. The first was a dark green Tiptronic S Speedster with 17 inch wheels for Butzi Porsche in 1995 on the occasion of his 60th birthday, the second, in 1998 was in silver and with manual transmission and 18 inch wheels for the American TV star and car collector, Jerry Seinfeld. The Seinfeld Speedster was apparently originally delivered as a cabriolet or targa model and later sent back to the factory 'Exclusive' department to be rebuilt as a wide-bodied Speedster. Quite a few stunning 993 Speedsters have been 'created' by enthusiasts just because the combination of the Speedster look and the 993's perfect lines go so well together. (Text taken from speedsters site)
There isn't many 993 Speedsters out there and here is your chance to own one. Original Speedsters are going for crazy money.
The reserve on this Speedster is set at regular 993 prices.
This 993 showed up locally and I bought it as we missed our 993 cab. Being a nice weather car (Porsche describes the top as 'an emergency top') and being up north, I'll be probably counting on my fingers the occasions when we can take it for a drive. Like mentioned wife enjoyed the previous 993 cab and she drove it on a regular basis but managing the top of the Speedster is a little too much for her.
About the car now. This is a US car with 33700 miles. Car has a rebuilt title (salvage) as it was involved in a roll over in 1999 and rebuilt as a 993 speedster I have the carfax. Front cowl & speedster bits are from an 89 Speedster. Wide body rear fenders are metal. Turbo front bumper, WB rear bumper. Has an aftermarket FB rear aero II spoiler. (My opinion is that a 993 split grill would look 100% better on this car!). Front shocks are black (boge) and rear are green (monroe) riding on stock coil springs (car is begging to be lowered!).
Runs & drives great!
The exterior has minimal paint chips. Car seemed to be previously arena red from what I can tell. Has some scrapes on the underside of the nose (minimal), small crack in the paint on the passenger rear fender, scratch on the drivers side fender and minimal paint chips on the hood.
It has 996 18 inch WB wheels with Pirelli Pzero Rosso 225/40 front and 285/35 rear. Tires are 6 years old and have minimal wear. The previous owner took it out occasionally on weekends.
The interior is not perfect. Let's say 7/10. It has a leather dash & center console, carbon fiber handbrake & shifter, grey gauges. No cuts, cracks or tears, just the usual age "wrinkles" and the seating leather and some small scratches in the leather. This doesn't seems to be the original seats to the car as they show more wear that a 33K mile car. The leather on the dash where the part covering the top of the gauges meets the dash has separated and would need to be glued.
I'll assist with shipping but shipping is at the buyers expense. I sold my 95 993 cab last fall and assisted in shipping it to Germany via container).
