Description
I have owned this car for 10 years or so. I purchased it in Washington and I believe that it is originally a west coast car. It had around 84,000 miles on the odometer when I bought it. I believe I still have the original title which will make it an easy title process for the US purchaser. I am prepared to assist with export and delivery to the United States or overseas. It's running fine but I would not drive it home if you are thousands of miles away - I don't know of any defects that would leave you stranded but it's not the kind of car you want to leave at the typical neighborhood mechanic while you are travelling
Very original, but with some upgrades including turbo tie rods, frame tensioners, new sway bar links, tensioners, aluminum floor boards, ignition system, back dated heat exchangers (stainless steel), Dansk muffler, clutch kit, reworked heads, front sway bar, turbo valve covers, new metal braided ignition cables, fuel injectors, fuel pump, windshield wiper motor, and of course plugs, fuel filter, fuel accumulator. I have new mats and carpet and door pockets (these need to be installed by you). I had a warm start issue and so also updated the fan blade and installed an air scoop to assist the front oil cooler. Air conditioning removed. I had it at the shop to replace the windshield to targa top, door and trunk seals but they did a terrible job, so not an upgrade.
The engine is the proper K series 2.7 litre engine for 1977 but I don't have the Porsche Certificate and don't have full records for the car.. I have had the engine out twice, once to do a major reseal and then to deal with the dreaded stud pull. I had case savers installed on that side at the time. The mechanic recently advised that the right upper valve cover is leaking but the engine is otherwise pretty tight.
The car is usually stored in my garage and hasn't seen rain in many years. The top is in pretty good condition but hasn't been on the car very much. Needs a new liner which I bought and is included for you to install. New trunk carpet kit also.
The new carpet and door pockets will really freshen up the interior. I bought new door panels with the idea of reusing the old panel covers (included for you), the window motors are struggling as they are so rarely used, the remote mirror switch needs work, the dash pad has a few cracks but is presentable, visors are puffy, rear view mirror needs to be reinstalled (loose). Seats in nice condition.
Rust is not a factor. I noticed a bit of pitting inside the trunk when I pulled it apart to clean it and replace the carpet. Original donut spare and partial tool kit included. There is one spot of rust on the driver's door which will not show up in the photos I am sure. Floor looks perfect from the inside. Haven't been underneath recently but it was fine last time it was on a hoist. The car was repainted at some point, paint could us some touch up in spots and there a few spots where the paint should have been buffed out. But overall looks good.
No accident damage that I can see except the driver's door has a dent on the interior bottom and the right beauty bar (aluminum rocker cover) is creased where it lost a low speed rub to a small pile of snow in the way as I moved the car around last winter.
I take great pleasure in driving this car. Planning a long distance move and I will be selling all my vehicles.
This is a significant transaction. Inspections are welcome and recommended. Please ask questions, this vehicle is sold without any warranty. As is where is.
