Description

Here for your consideration is an exceptional 1969 Porsche 912 Targa. There are a number of aspects that make this car stand out. It is a documented one family owned car since its purchase on February 1, 1969 from Veal Volkswagen in Santa Rosa, California for $6,323.39. Karl Weber of Glen Ellen, California owned the car until his passing when it was then passed on to his daughter. The car has never left Sonoma County. All registrations are present since the car was purchased. Every service record from the factory warranty book to service invoices are included since the car was purchased. The miles are documented through service records and are correct at 117,456. The car is exceptionally original with the only modifications being a Weber carburetor conversion (though original Solex carburetors, air cleaners and manifolds are included) The car is equipped with an optional AM radio and standard 4 speed transmission. It is a unique combination of white with red interior as stated in the purchase order. To say that this car is rust free is 99% true. I have many detailed pictures documenting this statement. Up on the rack the under side looks as good as in early 911/912 could hope for. There are two tiny surface rust areas near the lower rocker trim. All documented in pictures. All work done on car is documented in an inch thick file of service records and notes down to an incident of a bent wheel and a replacement from a wrecking yard which explains why one of the wheels date stamp is off by a few months. The car has recently been gone through mechanically to make it a brilliant driver. I have driven it for a month on numerous runs along the Sonoma Coast and it has left me, and everyone around me with a smile. It of course has matching motor and transmission number, all tools and jack as well as spare. All owner’s manuals, service book, etc. are present. I believe the rear deck lid, bumpers and possibly part of driver side quarter have been repainted. Other than that she is wearing her original factory paint. Along with the car comes an amazing story of how it was shot at many years ago by a passing motorist. It left an interesting spray of birdshot along the driver side and hood that I can only say adds to the patina and the history of this exceptional little Porsche. The chrome wheels pictured are off another 912. The original wheels (all 5) are being refinished and will be included. There are few cars available with such documented history and in such original condition. A 1969 912 Targa as you know is a one year only car. The only year of the long hood, long wheel base 912, a rare beast and even rarer in Targa trim. There is no comparison to the driveability of a long wheel base car and this is the only shot for a 912 in such form. Thanks for looking and feel free to contact me through Ebay for further information and pictures. Cheers.
Let me clarify the "birdshot" damage to the left front section of the car. There are NO holes in the car, but rather an interesting spread of very small (BB size) perfectly round chips in the paint. All of which could be touched up, but I decided to leave that to the new owner. There is an overall original feel to the car that would be difficult to duplicate and quickly lost with too much miss- placed enthusiasm. The fog light covers are off the car and boxed up (included)
