Description
This is a 1966 Porsche 912 3 gauge rust free car. Completely numbers matching, COA included, VIN 455055, engine # 745016, transmission # 161340, paint code 6602 Polo Red. Painted once in the eighties in the original polo red, it is faded and has a low shine. I found this car on a farm in central Alberta, owned by a fellow who restores tractors. The 912 found its way from Arizona to Alberta 15 years ago and has sat in a machine shop since, thus the lack of rust.
The gas tank, carbs and anything related to fuel was removed, cleaned and rebuilt. Suspension components and brake were completely restored using Stoddard as a source. Care was taken to use the original parts when possible and rebuilding the larger components. Original bolts and nuts where cleaned and reused to keep the car as original as possible. My goal was to build high quality original 912.
Engine and transmission were removed and resealed, all mechanical components have been restored and the car is now running, steering and stopping the way it should, Compression is 150 psi all around.
The interior for the most part is original and a bit sun faded but presentable. All electrics work as well as the original radio. Front seats have had some kind of red plaid insert installed, they are not worn but the plaid material is not original.
The body is the reason I bought the car in the first place, very straight and rust free, great panel fit and gaps. Doors close with the Porsche click, jack points, rockers, door bottoms and floor pan are well preserved. I took great care to not remove or add undercoating to the underside of the car when the suspension was being rebuilt. It only has a thin coat of POR 15 over the factory installed undercoat for protection.
The car is a driveable project, some people say leave it the way it is but it has the potential to be a high quality car with paint and interior. With all the mechanical work completed it is ready for someone to take it to the next level. Too many cars and projects and a lack of space has me finding new owners for 5 of my 15 Porsche collection. I will also be putting the following cars up for sale in the coming weeks: 1991 Porsche 964 C4 coupe, 1993 Porsche 964 C2 cabriolet, 1987 Porsche Carrera coupe and a 1960 Porsche 356B.
